TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a three or six month work visa in Thailand, particularly a Non-B visa for teaching, you typically need a job offer from a school, which must provide required documents for the visa application. You'll also need to submit personal documents such as your passport and degrees. Employment is critical, as schools often seek full-term commitments; short-term employment can be challenging to secure. Check the embassy's website for specific documentation and procedures.

And again I ask...
Do you have a Thai child?
If you do you can get a 90 day Non O Visa - Thai Child at Savannakhet...no proof of finances needed.
And one year Non O Thai Child may be obtained in several Thai Consulates with proof of 400,000 bank account.

If you only need 3-4 months...do two land border runs with extensions. But cannot work using exempt visa on arrival entries.

Karel...for us to help you in a meaningful way...please...reply...
Why only 3-6 months?
No school will employ you knowing you are not planning to teach the full term. Its unfair to accept a teaching job and leave.

Visit a Thai Consulate and try to find the requirements of this three or six month work visa? I can tell you it does not exist, so please explain what you have in mind

Then you find a school who is willing to employ you. You send the asked documents like passport copies and copies degrees to the school. The school will apply for a teacher license at the Ministry of Education and a Work Permit at the Ministry of Labor, when all documents ready they will sent you all and you apply for the Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa. Then you make your way into Thailand, pick up your work permit and start to work.
Go to the website of the embassy you will apply for the visa at and read the documents required.
Your future employer should help with most if not all of them

A Non B Teacher visa and a job with a legal work permit teaching is required.
And if you marry your Thai girlfriend...(if she is Thai) your visa and job problems are solved.
And as the current school term will end in 4-6 weeks...with semester break
Resume classes in June...gaining employment today not good.
But language schools teach all year-round.
Another factor may be your age...
Its more difficult to be hired if age 50+
And you must have a Bachelor's Degree to be a Teacher.
Its possible your girlfriend may be able to introduce you to local schools ???
And as you state you are not married to a Thai... Do you have any Thai children?

What is a "work visa"? Do you mean a Non-B visa allowing you to work?
To get that visa, you'd talk to your employer, who will (probably) give you a package of documents to give to the nearest consulate. Once you get your non-B visa, then you'll get your work permit at the local labor office. (Note: there are other ways to get the visa, but this is the most common, especially if you're outside of Thailand already).
There is only a 3 month single entry Non-B visa, OR a 1 year multiple entry visa that allows you to stay in Thailand in 90 day increments.
