Still confused about this. I am an American in Manila, I am wanting to apply to get into Thailand. I meet all the requirements as far as Finances, proper insurance that covers the 100k amount and Covid. I have no issue getting a covid test here, and a fit to fly.

But as a US expat how do I apply as an American to fly to Bangkok? Do I follow Philippines Protocol?

Thanks in advanced all.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Also appears that direct flights are impossible from PH to TH so looks like I'll wait it out longer.

Cheers!

Why not just do ASQ in Bangkok and then fly to phuket when you're done? Not like you're going to miss anything.

it doesn't sound that easy. 1st there are not flights from PH to TH. I would have to fly 38 hours + on multiple flights in multiple countries. for 3000USD? When a flight from Manila to BKK should just be a few hours.

2nd, I still have to apply for the Visa. I can't just arrive in Bangkok and hope they let me in. So that is why my original question was posted. How does an Expat living in Manila apply for a Visa. Because it's different than if I was applying from the US.

You'd contact the Thai Embassy in Manila for the instructions on how to leave the Philippines. I know for Philippine citizens, special permission is always required to leave the country, however I do not believe they currently apply to you, especially if you do not have a long term residency visa.

You *DO* need to apply for the following visas in the USA:

- Non-OA/ Non-OX (For "one year/ 10 year retirement")

- STV ("Special Tourist Visa")

Contact the embassy first because I was trying to do while outside the US and was told I needed to apply from inside my country of residence so start from there

@Adr***
Depends on the visa. STV and OA are the only 2 visas required to apply for inside you home country.
