What do I need to know about applying for a TR visa and traveling from the U.S. to Thailand during COVID-19?

Hello everyone šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ Iā€™m currently in the process of preparing everything to apply for the TR visa from the U.S., but I have a few questions about some of the documents. I would really appreciate any advice and help ā¤ļøšŸ‡¹šŸ‡ Thank you šŸ™šŸ¼

1. Does the Fit-To-Fly Certificate have to say you tested negative for COVID-19? On the Washington D.C. Thai Embassy website they give examples of the certificate and it doesnā€™t have a section that has the results of your COVID test? So, do I just bring the certificate and the results separately?

2. Has anyone else used Passport Health in the U.S.? What does the Fit-To-Fly Certificate look like? Was it accepted in Thailand?

3. Which airlines are the best for flying from the U.S. to Thailand? In the past I always used Korean Air, but I havenā€™t seen many people posting about that airline even though they are doing repatriation flights.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing to apply for a TR visa from the U.S. and has questions regarding travel requirements. Key inquiries include whether the Fit-To-Fly Certificate must explicitly state a negative COVID-19 test result, experiences with obtaining the certificate from Passport Health, recommendations for airlines, and the acceptance of repatriation flights for non-Thais. Community responses provide insights into the Fit-To-Fly documentation, recommended airlines (like Qatar and Cathay Pacific), and advice on booking flights in accordance with Thailand's regulations.

There are several Fit to Fly examples on the RTE web site.

Fit to fly 75$ quickmd.com they use there own document I used it also no problems they asked that dates I took the test and got result and put it on the document didnā€™t ask to look at it .. passport Healthā€™s hours are cut back and only some locations are doing Covid tests .. also some days they donā€™t send the tests out to the lab like weekends do your homework when timing . I used Cathay pacific empty flight 100$ cancelation fee .. I finished ASQ in Phuket and headed to phi phi no tourists itā€™s amazing :)

Thank you so much for your help! :) Just to clarify, say that Qatar Flight No. QR836 is on the list of semi-commercial flights, so if I go on their website and search some dates and this flight no. comes up then it should be accepted to travel on?

I think you can but I don't believe there is any benefit to unless you are a Thai citizen. I think the flights are limited and you have to be on some waiting list. Its also more likely there will be more thai nationals on the flight and they are not required to have a covid test to board. So it seems there would be a higher risk of catching it on the way. If that happens you'll be spending your quarantine in the hospital instead of the ASQ. There are also tons of semi commercial flights available every day from the US.

And semi-commercial flights are definitely allowed?

@Andes *******
yes. The list i attached previously are the flights approved by the Thai government. When you fill out the online COE application on the Washington DC embassy site there are pulldown lists for the flight you will be entering on, and they are all on the list. If you are unsure then fill out the COE to that point and double check.

Iā€™m a little confused about the semi-commercial flights... do you just go to Qatarā€™s website and search for flights? Then find a flight that matches the semi-commercial spreadsheet?
Wylie *******
@Andes *******
yes. Or use Google flights to be able to search other airlines at the same time. Most airlines are on Google flights, but not all. Once you find the airline and flight you want for time, prices etc you can either continue with Google, which will direct you to the airline or some travel site, or just book directly with the airline.

Wylie Pfaff What about booking the return flight? Does it matter which flight I choose?

Wylie Pfaff What about the requirements to fly into DOH? Does that matter and is it something I should look into? Do they require something different to fly into their country than Thailand? Do they have transit policies?

I thought you had to book the flight before applying for the COE?

@Andes *******
here are the steps and requirements. If you click on the link in step one it takes you to the application. It doesn't matter where in the US you are you can, or maybe have to, use this site. They will forward all the info to the correct embassy.

you need the flight and ASQ booked to get the COE approved. Are you applying for a visa at the same time? If so then you can fill it all out and submit it first. Once the visa is approved you will get an email with a link to your previous COE application to update and upload the e-ticket and ASQ receipt.

I booked Ana in January. Theyā€™ve never been added to the list but it was so cheap Iā€™ll just move till sometime next year. Iā€™ve already moved it 6 times

Anyhow, I just booked EVA because they are on the approved flight list. Flying out of LAX on February 3rd.

If you search fit to fly in group a few people have posted examples and links

1) The answer to number one has been debated, and as you point out the examples on the embassy sites have no mention of it. I have not seen anyone post that they were not let in if it was not mentioned but it would seem to be easier if it is. I used QuickMD and they ask if you have had a the test. If you do they will put the results on it. If you don't have results they will say they are pending, but you do not exhibit any signs.

2) I have not heard of that. I will be using QuickMD, again. Others have stated that it was accepted and is done online for $75.

3) I'm using Qatar. They offer free rescheduling, which I have already used because my PCR test was lost or mislabeled.

Here is the list of semi commercial flights approved by Thailand.

Do you have an example of what the Fit-To-Fly Certificate looks like from them?
Wylie *******
@Andes *******
here is the example they sent me without the header. The one I got was basically the same thing. Like I said I haven't used it yet and need to have them do another one because of my test being lost, but there has been quite a few people claiming to have used it successfully.

Thank you. I heard they will deny you if your result just says ā€œPCRā€ and not ā€œRT-PCRā€. It sounds so knit-picky, but thatā€™s what Iā€™ve heard.

its can be difficult to tell what is true and what isn't. There have been many claims of additional requirements on here, but it doesn't seem like much actual real evidence. There are so many official requirements that it can be stressful to have to worry about ones that are not officially mentioned anywhere. Although the Washington DC embassy does specifically say RT-PCR.

Tell me about it, so many requirements šŸ˜¬ I would hate to do the process and be denied at the airport. My worst fear.

i had something almost as bad. Did everything and the last thing I needed was the covid test results. The night before my flight I got an email saying it was "inconclusive" because either something was messed up or they said I may not have actually taken the test, which I did. So they lost or mislabeled the sample. I had no choice but to reschedule, which required rebooking the rental car, flight, ASQ, covid test, fit to fly appointment, and getting an updated COE. I'm taking no chances this time and have already taken 1 test, with 2 more scheduled.

Wow, Iā€™m so sorry. Thatā€™s so tough, I donā€™t know what I wouldā€™ve done. But, youā€™d say that Qatar has a good policy for rescheduling, right?
Wylie *******
@Andes *******
yeah, it really sucked and I was far from happy about it. I was honestly a bit mad at myself for not scheduling 2 tests, although despite what some people claim on here, scheduling multiple tests or getting same day testing is not the same everywhere in the world. People seem to think everyone lives in heavily populated cities like London or something. I called dozens of places in the midwest tri-states and not a single one offered better than 3-5 days for PCR results, and I have to drive hours one way to get tested on the days of the week I need since test sites are only available certain days.

Qatar will reschedule for free, as long as you call them. If you use the app or call the airport then there is a fee. It did cost me over $300 extra for the fare difference, I don't think they had the same economy seat open.

Thank you so much. I will look up QuickMD, Iā€™ve never heard of that but itā€™s considerably cheaper than Passport Health ($275).
