Hey all

A little confused! I have a few questions regarding DTV visa.

My husband is appying for the dtv visa, does he need to do a visa run every six months? Or can he just extend? Can he partake in courses? And does this visa allow multiple entry?

Also, If I piggy back of him as a Spouse, can I partake in courses?

Finally we have to proove ££, this would be for the both of us? Or do we need to proove that amount individually?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa allows for a stay of 180 days each entry, with the option to extend for another 180 days at an immigration office or to do a border bounce. It is a multiple-entry visa valid for five years. Both the main applicant and the spouse are allowed to partake in courses, as this is one of the benefits of the visa. Concerns regarding proof of funds depend on the embassy's requirements, as some may require individual proof for each applicant.

If you plan on partaking courses yourself why not apply for a DTV for yourself instead of piggybacking? You'll save him the back pain as well as I'd imagine it won't be fun to piggy back someone for 5 years...

Maybe their is an agency that could help? If you know any? Because I really don't see any of these options on the embassy website so I'm finding it hard to know the exact details of the visa and the requirements to meet that visa.

Once the Visa is approved it's good for 5 years, no need to keep proving you still meet the requirements

I know. Did I say anything that contradict that?

Because once it is approved you are not piggy-backing anyone, a Visa is for an individual

You don't HAVE to work remotely to be eligible for the DTV. There is something called 'soft power path' which allows you to apply if you enroll to Muay Thai training or Thai cooking classes. If you're interested in that you can contact Zee @ KLMT (Khao Lak Muay Thai)

oh I see, hmm, but we only have funds between us to proove i could proove my own funds as its both of ours together if that makes sense? . I also need multiple entry...does this allow this? .

On the embassy website it doesn't state all this! Atleast I don't see it.

I'm pretty sure your partner can apply for a spouse visa if you come with him on his DTV. Where are you at the moment?

I don't work remotely! So I wouldn't be able to prove this. Only he works remote!x

1) The visa gives you permission to stay for 180 days each time you enter. After that you can do a border bounce for a new 180 day stamp or you can apply one time each entry for a 180 day extension. No one knows what the extension entails, how much it will cost, or any other details yet as we are still months away from the first person being able to apply and the immigration offices don't even know anything yet.

2) CAN he partake in courses? It's one of the requirements for a category of DTV. Taking classes has no visa requirement in Thailand. Anyone can take classes regardless of what visa they have.

3) You need to check with the embassy. Each embassy sets their own requirements, and some will require a dependent to show their own proof of funds and some will not.

DTV a border bounce will suffice. No need for a visa run as the visa is five years lifespan with multiple entry. Can extend each entry by 180 days at an immigration office
