TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around ongoing issues with the Thai embassy's website in Vientiane, particularly concerning the inability to process non-confirmed online visa applications and reports of staff refusing entry to applicants despite having confirmed bookings. Users express frustration with the embassy's handling of the situation, suggesting possible internal manipulation of appointment systems and security concerns. Recent comments indicate that there may have been a cessation of selling queue spots outside the embassy, highlighting ongoing efforts to address these systemic issues.

I would love to be able to answer your question, but too any things do not make sense at the moment. This Consulate is new 3-4 years old, it was build on purpose to handle the increasing number of applications and now the turnaround ?

remember you said the number of applications per day came down from about 600 pd to 200 pd. If thats is correct can a low level person do that? By high level I mean at embassy level not national. It must be a network inside the embassy thats doing this.

I agree keep yourself clean on this one. It will blow up sooner or later.

i wouldn't get involved with buying appointments as a company. It will get brought down eventually due too Internet talk.

yes that system isn't run by VFS Global unlike the VOA systems or the system being employed in London, Beijing etc

@Amornrat *********
no. What I meant, is are the Bar codes on the visas scanned by immigration when you enter Thailand? I don't know what the Bar code is used for or what information it contains?
Amornrat **********
I am not aware of that. This booking system is not part of their global vision.

didn't he and immigration spend the day there when they closed the Embassy a day or so before the system was put in place? I heard from a reliable source, this booking system wasn't the idea of the Embassy?

@Ron *****************
this all does not make sense. If that guy is high level he should have approached all companies and talked to us, give a quota and sale for THB500 each, easy money for the rest of the lifetime of this system. Now he sit on a bomb.
Amornrat **********
@Ron ******
no, this is local system only. They crosscheck the paper visually at the Entrance.
Ron *******
The big issue is how they are logging out the visas and against which passport numbers? They have thousands of numbers. It would be interesting to buy an appointment and then scan the bar code on the visa. I don't know if the bar codes are scanned at entry by immigration or not?

@Ron ******

on this we are not far away.....

It's easy for them too stop it If they want too.

The IT manager just needs too look at the access logs and who is logging in. These system's normally need an internal mail address as a username and then a password. They have a major security issue there by the sound of things. Of course though, it can only be stopped if they really want too stop it. It could be patched in a few minutes.

I guess we use a "customer" and record the conversation n send it to higher ups.... Some heads would roll. They know and have realized that they have a problem with the system.
Amornrat **********
Ron Angel yes, my staff and some of my japan customer on Monday told me THB5000.

is there anybody outside offering appointments? I am convinced somebody in the Embassy is manipulating the system or has given there Admin passwords away. If this was happening in a company, you would change everybody's password via the internal Intranet system and move too a 2 stage password system. One password would enter the Intranet and another too access the system.
Amornrat **********
Today the staff at Embassy even refused entry to one Filipina with a confirmed booking number as they say NON IN SYSTEM. We printed the correspondence but they still said NOT IN SYSTEM.

they are working on it.
