What are the potential impacts of multiple visa runs on my DTV visa application in Thailand?

Hello everyone!

I'm seeking advice on applying for a DTV visa. I've been in Thailand for over a year, and I've done 4 visa runs and 3 extensions with local immigration. I'm a freelancer with a registered VAT number and I meet all the requirements for the DTV, but I'm concerned about the potential impact of my previous visa runs on my application.

Should I use an agent to apply for the visa, or is it safe to apply on my own? I've prepared all the necessary documents thanks to the advice shared in this group.

Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a DTV visa in Thailand after having completed multiple visa runs and extensions. There are mixed opinions in the community about the impact of these prior actions on the visa application. Some users believe that previous stays will not negatively affect the application and could even serve as evidence of the intent to stay longer in Thailand, while others express concern over past visa runs potentially influencing the outcome of the DTV application.

Apply for it yourself, but do it now rather than risking going back and forth between Thailand any further on exemptions/visa runs etc.

Will it have an effect on the application? Potentially.

However I’d rather apply for the visa and obtain the correct one, rather than doing multiple extensions/visa runs as a tourist, when obviously you’re working on said tourist visa, than worry about doing further extensions and/or visa runs in the future.

There have been people with multiple visa runs and other visas being declined for DTV

Almost zero influence.

No concern here. I’ve run multiple times back to back before immigration counter told me I should get DTV. I did. Approved. So don’t worry get it done.

Your previous stays will not impact your application, use them to highlight your motivation to stay longer in Thailand via the DTV.
