TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared that their son applied for a DTV visa which was approved in less than a week, and they managed the application process independently. Community members congratulated the approval while inquiring about the application location and confirming visa requirements. Helpful advice included printing email confirmations of the visa for check-in and informing about the necessary proof during entry to Thailand.
An Immigration Officer at the nearest Immigration Office insists that all copies be 'Photocopies' and not 'Scans'. I've asked at photocopy stores "what is the difference?" and they all agree that 'there is no difference'. Hmmm. So, what's going on here?

So, he successfully received a DTV E–Visa from the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles based on the DTV Soft Power Category via Thai Cooking Courses??
How long from the day of making payment of USD $400 Dollars for the DTV E–Visa Fee did it take to process his DTV and successfully receive his DTV E–Visa PDF File??
gives me visa exempt access to Canada,Mexico and some Caribbean countries for 10 years. If I want to visit to Canada with affordable airlines, I will have to make a transit in US airport anyway. I don’t want to just apply for Canada’s 6 months tourist visa, it’s not worth it.
it is a lot harder for all nationalities getting US visas nowadays.

Thank You for your helpful report 👍
Congratulations 👏👏👏
PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.
That's what you should do... print it out.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

Is your son a digital nomad (called workcation category)?
Does the agent pretend to be the applicant and do it on the applicant's behalf? When I did mine, I had to get quite personal documents; salary slips, a letter from the CEO of my company, bank statements etc. How would an agent be able to do those things? And the e-visa application itself was very easy to do. Maybe if an applicant needs the help of an agent, the applicant must be shady somehow
