What are the current requirements for 90-day notifications and applying for a Non-B visa in Thailand during the pandemic?

Hello everyone. I’ve 2 questions.

1. From the photo, it mentions a 90 day notification must be made for those who has it due from the 26 March - 31 July. Does that mean anyone who has a 90 day notification due from 1st August onwards, does not need to make the report?

2. Is it possible to obtain a work permit/non B visa type while being currently present in Thailand? I was told you must not be in the country. I am currently holding a Non-Imm ED visa type.

I appreciate the help heaps.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses two main questions about Thailand's visa policies during the pandemic: 1) Clarifications regarding the 90-day notification, indicating that those with notifications due between March 26 and July 31 must report by the end of August, while those due after do not need to worry. 2) Inquires about the possibility of applying for a Non-B visa or work permit while currently in Thailand, with confirmation that usually a traveler must leave the country to apply. Various expats share experiences in navigating these visa regulations.

I hope so. I was supposed to do it yesterday but decided not to go as Richard Barrow said we don't need to and I was worried Chaeng Wattana would be full of confused tourists asking about amnesty extensions. I will go to do it in a couple of weeks and if any issue blame it on Richard Barrow.

Lots of speculation - why doesnt everyone wait for the official announcement ? Then we will all know exactly what the new rules will be.

Just spoke to my lawyer, my non b expired and I went on the amnesty.

She said they can not issue new non B, hmm 🤔

I suspect many people are in this situation.

She said wait for an announcement, 🤞🤞🤞

She said, If you have a wp3 already you can apply for a 1 year visa inside Thailand.

I went from non B to a tourist visa with intentions to get a new non B but just as CV started. I have business partnership, letter from my embassy, but yesterday at immigration it was no clear answer except wait for announcement. They then said come back in August, and also said from September 27 come get a new 30 day.

We did the right thing by not going to Singapore because of CV, have the business papers, a letter from my embassy, but get no real direction.

Two weeks ago, I was told no no no go home, then yes yes yes, then wait.

IMO Thailand would be best to allow foreigners to simply extend. Why spend $10k to go home, and then not come back. $10k is better spent employing people here.

@Ben ******
wow that’s a lot to get home.

Same, I have a company, applied for new non b in January, so that’s gone.

Just got to wait, hopefully they will sort something 🤷‍♀️

I have medical treatment here until October, so I’m hoping that I can get a medical exempt and it won’t mess me up for the future 🤷‍♀️

Good luck!

they had plane tickets, one guy paid $6k to Australia, and there were more expensive tickets, then $3k for Australian quarantine. If I decide to come back then add more. At those prices I wouldn't come back.

@Ben ******
wow 15,000 Tb ish from Thailand to London direct.

That’s a harsh expensive. 🤞🤞🤞 something will happen

I see. I am hoping to get a WP while I’m in Thailand. Is it possible? With the whole pandemic ongoing right now.

@Nigel *****
that’s what I’m hoping, to get your WP3 you need (so I’m led to believe, before the keyboard warriors attack) your non b first, this you can not get in Thailand at the moment.

Lawyer said to wait to see if they will fix this, but could depends on provides too, I’m surat thani.

I’m trying to get my non b without leaving Thailand, and then apply for my WP, inside of Thailand.

But she said that’s not possible

yes I was told the same. That we cannot apply for a WP while being in Thailand. I fear that once I leave Thailand there will be no way of returning until further notice.

@Nigel *****
yes exactly. I’m trying to find alternatives at the moment, but I think they might sort something out 🤞 last minute of course

what does Thailand Catch 22 mean ?
Sebastian *************
Ok.. !

Just means that it's a problem that Thailand hasn't figured out a way yet for people to resolve

In short - this second Amnesty gives time to change one's Visa status - but no tools or mechanism available to do it. Thailand Catch 22

1. It's open for the 90 days reporting now. I just had it done last week. They won't fine you if you go as early as you can.

2. Nope. Even my friend had to go back to Africa (because he's from Togo) to have it renewed.

went to file as usual when a lot of misinformation was told to go away lol. Thanks for your always correct information

My last 90 day report was due April 18th, my permission to stay stamp (non b) expired on the 30th of April. My new school is still trying to figure out how I can get a new non b. But would I still report even though I'm on amnesty without a valid visa
Tod *********
That bit about the 90 day reports means IF you had a 90 day report due from March 26th to July 31st and you DIDN'T do it (meaning you took the amnesty to not file a 90 day report) you now have from Aug 1st to Aug 31st to GO and file one

how do I go about this? I wanted to do it online but it says I should do the report in person before I am able to do it online for the first time.
Tod *********
@Nigel *****
correct, you need to file at least ONE 90 day report in person to get into the 90 day online data base..

So go file this 90 day report and then after that you should be able to use the online system.
Frederick *********
@Tod ********
I’m assuming that as I’ve done my last two reports online, one in April and the latest one in July, I’m not required to do another before 31st August.
Tod *********
@Frederick ********
correct, you have been filing your 90 day reports when they came due (rather than taking the "I don't need to file until after July 31st b/s amnesty) so you just continue doing them when they come due
Frederick *********
@Tod ********
many thanks Tod. I will definitely continue doing my reports online, much easier and no mixing in close proximity with people at immigration.

I see. Mine is due on the 15 August. I’ll renew it even though my stay will be a short one after

When is your 90 day report due?

15 August. I intend to leave thailand in September.

My advice would be always make sure your 90 day is up to date. The case by case basis for your visa is a grey area but I am about to find out next week if it's possible.
