Hi, not really a quick question: since the non imm O based on marriage is not available as a multiple entry (1 year, 90 days per stay) but only single entry (90 days of stay) in the new online system what are the options for get a long term visa?

I live and work in a neighborhood country and i fly to Thailand weekly for 1 days or 2 stay, i’m non interested in a visa that allows me to stay long term in Thailand but a visa that allows me to come often other than the visa exemption to avoid questions any time and risk to be sent back for whatever reason.

If i apply for the Non imm O single entry and the day that i enter Thailand i apply for the re entry permit it will be for only 90 days as i can’t apply straight away for the 1 year extension cause i’ll left thailand the day after and also because i don’t wanna move the 400k to my thai bank account and more because if after applying they will come to my thai home to inspect I’ll probably not be there as i don’t actually live permanently there.

What are the possible solutions?

Please note that i have all the requirements needed for apply for the visa.

I know my question is not usual but i’m not finding an answer both from the embassy (that until last week was issuing the multi entry) neither from the immigration at the airport, any clue?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a long-term visa for Thailand based on marriage since the non-immigrant O visa is now only available as a single entry, complicating their frequent short stays. They inquire about possible alternatives to avoid issues with immigration. Comments suggest using a DTV visa, opening a Thai bank account to meet financial requirements, and a detailed step-by-step plan to apply for a 90-day single entry visa, followed by a re-entry permit, and ultimately apply for a one-year extension based on marriage to a Thai national.

Marco Chang . . Well I reckon your plan is doable.

*** During one of your visa-exempt stays, use an agent to help you open a Thai bank account in your sole name. Transfer a minimum of 400.000.- THB into it

*** make sure your marriage is acknowledged in Thailand! Because for the application to the 1-year extension of stay, you need to show a fresh printout “Kor Ror 22” from the Amphur of the marriage registry

*** Apply for the 90-days single entry Non-Imm-O family visa in your home country or in a neighboring country

*** enter Thailand on the 90-days Non-O visa. You will get stamped in for a 90-days stay permit

*** visit Immigration and buy a “single re-entry permit” for this 90-days stay permit. It costs a fee of 1000.- THB

*** after 4 weeks, you do your trip abroad, you exit Thailand

*** 4 more weeks later, you re-enter Thailand. That re-entry permit you bought, will let you get stamped in until the date you received upon your first Non-Imm-O entry

*** you are now within the last 30 days of your initial 90-days stay permit.

VISIT Immigration and apply for the “1-year extension of stay permit based on being married to a Thai wife”

For this, you need the “bank letter of guarantee” (rab roong thanakan) which proves that the 400.000.- THB have seasoned for a minimum period of 2 months

(some Immigrations ask for 3 months, that’s why I said, open that account during an earlier stay so the seasoning requirement is no problem at all)

*** you will get the Extension issued for “4 weeks under consideration”

Normally, during these 4 weeks, Immigration visits you at home, to interview your neighbors and check if your marriage is for real

Explain your problem to Immigration. You need to tell them that along this route, you have to leave Thailand and stay abroad for 4 weeks, before you will eventually return. Take you wife along, remain polite, quiet and reasonable, and the Immigration will figure out a solution for you – which will either be an earlier home visit, or an extended “under consideration” period

Good Luck, safe travels and fingers will be kept crossed

ah and I forgot to mention, buy a 3800.- THB multi re-entry permit for your 1-year extension, and you are good to go

during the “under consideration” time I’m allowed to leave the country (having bought previously a re entry permit) ?
Nongnuch ********
@Marco ******
yes you are allowed to leave the country during this period. However you should tell Immigration that you need to exit. You need to let them know, so they can plan their home visit at a date when you will be present

great, last question and i’ll not disturb you anymore! Normally when the extension of stay is submitted you get back your passport with the stamp “visa under consideration” the same day, the day after, or? I know that it is the same process of the extension of non imm B but the HR from the places that i worked for have always handled all the process and i also never been in a rush to have my passport back when i used to work in Thailand

. If you plan to use changwattana imm office in bkk for your extension, you will always get back your passport with under consideration stamp. I've done it there 7 times. Also the chance of getting a home visit in bkk is almost zero due to them processing about 100 a day. I've never had one in 7 years here. Even if they do, you don't really need to be there as they will talk to your wife/ neighbors to confirm legimacy of marriage. They also need to notify you in advance.

sorry thst I am unable to give you a definite answer, but this is Immigration office specific. They all often operate under their own interpretation of the police orders . .

the non imm o multiple entries was ideal for my case but since Jan 1 the embassy that was issuing it until 10 days ago will now accept ONLY online applications and the website doesn’t have the option of multiple entries on this kind of visa.

@Marco ******
I know. Savannakhet discontinued issuing the multi-entry Non-O family visa . . that's why you need a 1-year Extension of Stay, for which you can buy a multi re-entry permit

thanks for your detailed answer, however i forgot to mention that i have multiple thai banks accounts, and marriage certificate in Thai,as i have been working in thailand under non imm b for over 10 years.

The main problem is that i’ll never stay in Thailand for a period exceeding 3 days each entry and i must always carry with me my passport as i can’t leave the country without it.

Practical example on non imm O single entry:

I have granted the visa this week on Friday, i flight to Thailand on Sunday, i apply for re entry permit on Sunday directly at the airport and i leave on Monday. The following week i come back on Monday and i can’t apply for the extension of stay as i will leave on Tuesday (or Wednesday) and i can’t leave my passport at the immigration for 4 weeks during the “under consideration” time as i need it to leave the country! I really can not find any solution on this problem as it is an unique case very uncommon.

@Marco ******
you don't leave your passport on Immigration during the under consideration period. . . . . NEVER heard of such a requirement! . . . . . . . .You actually could make a "deal" or come to an agreement with Immigration regarding your leave during the under consideration period.

@Nongnuch *******
you’re right, if i get my passport back the day of the application for the year extension or the day after it is feasible, a big headache indeed but feasible
Nongnuch ********
@Marco ******
Yes, it needs accurate planning. It is feasible . . Well in 14 years of visa advice, I have yet to come to such a situation like the one you are in

actually it is pretty strange as usually people seek advise on visa for stay longer not for touch and go 😂.

DTV visa is going to be your best bet

@Brandon ***********
on the requirements of the DTV visa there is “letter from my company that certifies that i can work full time remote” it is not my case

@Marco ******
you wouldn't be using remote work. You would use a soft power reason to qualify. Dentist appointment or doctor appointment. Then get the 5 year visa
