A British Citizen is asking for help. He arrived on a 30 day visa on arrival and has extended for 30 days, He wants more time and since he is Hua Hin and the only place we can fly direct is Kula Lampur that seems the best option, I found the link for appointments and told him I think he must have 20K plus and a onward ticket, Please comment on what I missed or have wrong.

I have always held a Work Permitt or Retirement Visa and don't keep up with boarder runs and want to make sure he has the right info,

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British citizen currently on a 30-day visa in Hua Hin has extended their stay but is seeking further options. While considering a flight to Kuala Lumpur, alternatives such as a land border crossing are suggested, which could provide an additional 30 days. It's important to ensure he has sufficient funds, proof of accommodation, and a return ticket for visa applications. Additionally, there are discussions regarding the potential for a marriage or retirement visa.

If he's on a British passport as per your question, this is the requirements at the Kuala Lumpur Thai Embassy

if he wants more time, check the country of origin of his passport, go to the correct link on the website of the Thai Embassy and apply for the SIngle Entry Tourist Visa there. It does not make sense to go to Bangkok and from there to take a minivan to a border. If he really want to do a border run, ask around in Hua Hin, for sure there must be a service to or Malaysian border or Myanmar border directly.

hes British and my fault as I though land boarder were 15 days. If he can get 30 at a boarder and 30 more in country he's ready to go. I have discussed at length with him about a marriage Visa, if he marries and a retirement if not, when he returns.

You mentioned appointment link.. Are you talking about border bounce (exit and enter Thailand on another visa exempt entry) or visa run (go to consulate outside Thailand to obtain Single Entry Tourist Visa) ? Answer would be different..

Kanchanaburi Border bounce is one of your choices (if talking about border bounce anyway), but maybe much better to go straight to Kanchanaburi border from Hua Hin than stopping (or staying) at Bangkok. At Kanchanaburi - Phu Nam Ron border they don't ask for proofs.

Just did 60-day SETV process in KL, pretty easy if you have all your documents.

And proof of accommodation. What's his recent history of visiting Thailand?

Why fly when a land border crossing is good for him? Gives him 30 days plus option added 30 days at Thai Imm. 1900 Thai baht.
