TLDR : Answer Summary
The extension of stay in Thailand differs mainly based on whether an individual is married to a Thai national or is recognized as a dependent. The financial requirements, documentation, and the necessity for having a 'yellow book' or house registration can vary. For a marriage extension to a Thai, one must usually demonstrate financial stability by showing a bank balance of 400K baht over 2 months or proof of a monthly income of 40K baht. Conversely, for dependents, the requirements can differ, especially if raising children of mixed nationality. Both types of extensions provide similar one-year durations with 90-day reporting obligations, but the paperwork and additional requirements like interviews may differ.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
Conversely, if you don't wanna do that you could hoof it over to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam or Seoul South Korea and get a year-long multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage without ANY proof of funds and only minimal documentation. True on that type of visa you'd have to exit/re-enter the country every 90 days but you could get 15 months of stay out of the visa itself.
It is indeed but I didn't mention it because that's not got anything to do with the visa itself it's a stand alone 60 day extension you can get off a 30 day visa exempt, tourist visa or any of the Non-O entries.

Okay, despite what you were told, there is NO rule that you need to have a yellow house book to get a yearly extension based on marriage at the Hua Hin immigration office. I just called a friend who lives there and who gets his yearly extension based on marriage to a thai national down there and he said it is NOT required. He did need the thai house book listing of his thai wife (who was NOT born in Hua Hin BTW) and he did need copies of his lease, the land lords thai i/d and the house book listing on the property he rents down there as well as the required photos and documentation needed for the marriage extension of stay.
You can get a hand out of what's from them at the Queenz Park immigration office down there as far as what documentation is needed for a marriage extension

You do not need a yellow book for an Extension of Stay.
normally they would verify you live there by visiting the house and talking to neighbors. But getting the yellow book is pretty easy as long as your Ampur will issue.
arr right. Maybe ill try with copies of her blue book. Overall which would be better extension. Marriage or dependent of are they the same and both go under consideration
I have the yellow book (got it at the local Ampbur) but have never been asked for it. Immigration asks for my wife's blue book but I am not in there.

First time I hear of this, normally if you have the Notification of Stay, reported the address with the TM30 form, copy of ID and blue housebook of the owner of the house, in case rental house the contract and map to the house.
but ill double check. I would be pleased if i didnt.

the financials for marriage to a thai are 400K baht banked for 2 months or a letter from your consulate stating you get 40K baht a month in income from abroad,
the financials for raising half thai kids are the same money banked BUT there is no seasoning requirement
the financials for raising 100% foreign children are 500K baht banked for 3 months except the first yearly extension the money has to be banked for only 30 days. There is NO provision to use an income affidavit from your consulate

one is based on marriage to a thai national and the other is based on either marriage to a foreigner legally working here OR raising a half thai or full foreign born child.
