What are the financial requirements for my American child to stay in Thailand under my NON-RE Multi-Entry Retirement permit?

I am an American citizen who has a NON-RE Multi-Entry Permit based on Retirement that was renewed for one year recently. For next year's renewal I have already started having 65,000 Baht transferred monthly into my Thai bank from abroad.

My non-Thai girlfriend (Lao) will be having our first child this year, and the child will be registered as an American citizen with an American passport. I believe the baby, who will be born in Thailand, can stay in Thailand with me, as a dependent child under my retirement permit.

My main question: Are there additional financial requirements for me to meet for the baby to be able to stay in Thailand under basically the same terms as me?

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American citizen with a NON-RE Multi-Entry Permit based on retirement in Thailand is inquiring about financial requirements for their child, who will be born in Thailand and hold an American passport. Comments confirm that there are no additional financial requirements for the child to stay as a dependent under the parent's retirement permit, although there are some general rules about children and overstays.

What is your Lao girlfriend's visa status?

I guess so, if it's a relatively short trip. My then girlfriend did it for 2 years but got sick of the monthly trip to Cambodia. Mind you, marrying a Laotian isn't easy either!

Based upon my past experience, I think it is infinitely cheaper and easier to just take her to Nong Khai every month.

Yeah. My wife is Laotian too. The problem with only 30 days is having to do monthly border runs. You should marry so she can piggyback on your Extension ๐Ÿ˜‰

it's nothing to do with ASEAN. :O Lao people get 30 day visa waiver entries and have no limit to the number of them they can get.

She gets a 30-day ASEAN member visa.

There is NO provision for children to stay ON their parents visas or extensions. BUT with that being said children under 15 cannot be fined for overstay and children under 18 cannot be banned for it. So you will be fine just letting the baby be here for a good few years.

a Non-RE Multi-Entry Permit based on retirement? I guess you went to Immigration and got the Extension of Stay (big stamp in your passport) and a small stamp "retirement", next to this you got big rectangle stamp with Re-Entry Permit and in the stamp Multiple. But okay, no there are no extra financial requirements for you baby to be your dependent.

Robert Lagas OK, thank you. Please post again if you find out anything different. I sincerely appreciate your help.

As far as I know, no stamps needed. When the baby leaves with you the passport will get an exit stamp and maybe an overstay stamp without fines on on entry the baby get an entry stamp. As Tod mentioned till 15 years of age no overstay fines.

So, are there any Thai immigration, "Stamps," or permissions necessary in her passport for my baby to leave Thailand, and re-enter Thailand with me?
Arnie ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
Yes, thank you.

And this is an example of the re-entry permit. This example has single where you have Multiple Entry.
Robert *******
Okay, I will help you: This is an example of the big stamp, first line is the Immigration Office where you got it, second line is the meaning of this stamp: Extension of Stay is permitted up to ../../.. and there is a stamp next to this with retirement as the reason you got this stamp.

Robert Lagas To not waste your time, I tried very hard to get the terminology right, and based it upon reading the actual stamps in my passport. It does say, "NON-RE," and, "Retirement," and, "Multi-entry."
