Edit: Forgot to mention, this is for extensions of a visa in country. The visa that is followed is that of a foreign volunteer with a Non-immigrant O visa.

--------------

With the US consulate and embassy in Thailand no longer allowing service to notorize affidavits stating relationships regarding marriage and children, what are Americans planning on doing for Non-O follower visas for their American spouses and children to satisfy immigration? Has anyone received any direction from immigration? I personally have the affidavit that I can use for the next few years (assuming Thai immigration doesn't change their requirements), but I want to know what I should prepare for in the future. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses recent changes in immigration procedures for Americans in Thailand, specifically concerning extensions of Non-Immigrant O visas for spouses and children. Notably, the US consulate's cessation of notarizing affidavits regarding relationships has left many seeking alternatives for compliance with immigration requirements. One participant mentions that current requirements include proving monthly transfers of 65,000 baht into a Thai bank account or a lump sum of 800,000 baht, indicating a shift towards stricter financial documentation for visa extensions.

What Affadavit are you referring to? Are you on a retirement visa?

this would be a Non-immigrant O follower visa. This person would follow some one on a Non-immigrant O Visa volunteering at a foundation.

The affidavit just states I am married to "spouses name" and the following are my children. (With additional basic information). In the past you take this affidavit to the US embassy/consulate and have it notarized. I June the US embassy and consulate stopped offering notaries for affidavits like this.

oh okay, I thought maybe it was the income Affadavit that you may have been referring too. I know the Embassy hardly does any notaries. And they charge 50 bucks too. Lol.
