DTV Visa – 500,000 THB Financial Requirement & Applying While Abroad
Hi everyone,
I have two questions regarding the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).
1. Financial requirement – 500,000 THB
Meeting the 500,000 THB financial requirement is not a problem for me. I have regular business income, ongoing transactions, and a five-figure investment portfolio.
However, I don’t normally keep large amounts of money sitting unused in my personal bank account for months. My funds are usually moving between business accounts, personal accounts, and investments.
I’m planning to transfer approximately USD 20,000 (or the equivalent in EUR) into my personal bank account and apply for the DTV about two weeks later.
I can also provide bank statements showing regular income and business transactions.
Would this be acceptable, or must the 500,000 THB remain in the personal bank account continuously for three months?
Does the three-month requirement simply mean providing three months of bank statements, or maintaining the minimum balance throughout that entire period?
2. Applying from abroad while having permanent residence
If someone has a legally registered permanent residence in a country, do they still need to be physically present in that country when applying for a DTV through its Thai embassy?
For example, if I have an official registered residence in Türkiye but am temporarily traveling in another country, can I submit my DTV application online through the Thai Embassy in Ankara using my Turkish residence documents?
Or is physical presence in Türkiye mandatory at the time of application, even with valid proof of residence?
Has anyone recently applied under similar circumstances, particularly through the Thai Embassy in Ankara?
I’d really appreciate firsthand experiences or official clarification on these two points.
Thanks in advance!
