Can I explain my bank statement situation for my DTV application in Manila?

Apr 29, 2026
Hi I am applying for my DTV in Manila, Philippines as a business owner. They are now requesting further documents from me, which is to show that I had 500k baht in my bank statements for the last 3 months.

However, I've only kept the 500k baht in my account for the last month or so, and I've used my money to invest in crypto, so I have no bank statements to show that I have 500k baht sitting in my account for the last 3 months.

Do you think I can submit a letter explaining in detail all this and they will accept it or is it a loss cause? Has anyone had a similar experience? Would really appreciate your help, thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about a requirement for their DTV visa application in Manila, specifically about needing to show a bank statement with 500,000 baht in their account for the last three months. They express difficulty as they have only maintained that amount for the last month due to investments in cryptocurrency. Community responses vary, with many suggesting strict adherence to rules regarding bank statements and some offering encouragement from personal experiences where explanations were accepted. Overall, there's a consensus that the user should try submitting a detailed explanation but may face challenges due to visa regulations.

The 500k for the last 3 months is mandatory, you should have done your research before applying. Keep the 500k on your bank account for another 2 months and apply for the visa after you have the 3 months bank statement. This time they will reject your application anyway. The consulate does not care about crypto or other kind of investments.

I can see this requirement in the e-visa guidelines dated January '26: "Recent Bank Certificate / Bank Statements from the last three months (minimum balance

of THB 500,000 or its equivalent in other currencies maintained over the last 3 months)." This is from here:

%20Manila%20E-Visa%20Guidelines%20(as%20of%202Jan2026).pdf It seems that you don't meet the requirement, but it doesn't hurt to write a statement that you had the funds in crypto/investments and was not aware of the requirements. Also, include the crypto balance sheet, though it's not accepted as a bank. You can't cancel your application so expect to lose your application fee.

At this point, since you do not have the ability to give them what they asked for, it seems that is about all you can do. I honestly don't think it is going to help, but you may as well give it a shot.

Not safe . They expect 500K or more

You have a decent chance of being approved, if your application is immaculate and has no further mistakes. Manila embassy only tends to look at the most recent statements.

I am currently applying for a DTV in Manila. I was requested to submit additional documents, including financial evidence showing that I have 500,000 baht in my bank account.

I had already provided both a bank statement and a bank certificate during my initial visa application. However, I would like to clarify that the 500,000 baht was deposited into my account only this month.

In response to the additional request, I submitted a bank certificate but did not include a bank statement. After submitting the bank certificate, I was further requested to provide these two additional documents.

Most embassies require 3 months - crypto isn’t going to help

Different embassies have different rules and different embassy officials may interpret the rules differently. 🤷‍♂️

I got mine in August 2024 and had the money in my checking account all of two days when applying.

Just sharing our experience with the DTV application in Taipei 😊

My boyfriend’s funds were only in his account for about 6 days before applying, and the total amount was spread across 3 different banks. The last account even had a USDT to USD conversion just 3 days before submission.

We made sure to include a detailed cover letter explaining the source of funds, plus proof of the conversion and a clear explanation of everything.

He got approved within just 3 working days.

Tip: just be honest, explain everything clearly, and make sure you can show overall financial stability 👍

Anonymous participant every consulate sets their own rules. Just because someone was OK in Taipei doesn't mean the same applies to Manila.

My friend had applied before around march last year and they only had the 500k baht in their account for a month. They were approved right away. Is it because they changed their rules?

You can explain but you won't get the visa. They are strict regarding the money being in your account

Usually embassies are strict to see 500K in the bank account only for the last three months
