Odd that my question on gay marriage visa disappeared. Guess the moderator has issues with LGBT.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion addresses the absence of a long-term visa option in Thailand based on same-sex marriage. A moderator clarifies that there's no provision for visas/extensions for same-sex marriages at this time, despite legal recognition in some countries. The thread also highlights a misunderstanding regarding the deletion of the original question, emphasizing that it was based on current visa regulations rather than any bias.
Believe me my deleting your topic had NOTHING to do with your sexual orientation AT ALL.
It was based purely on the facts as they are today. There is no visa afforded people who have same sex marriages (no matter IF those marriages were/are legal in the country where they occurred) there is NO provision for visas/extensions on them here IN thailand.
I do not have a crystal ball, I do not know what the future holds in that area of visa and/or extensions, all I know is at this time you have no options based on that criteria.
Sorry you got your wires crossed, sorry you got bent out of shape thinking I deleted your posts for reasons other than I just stated.
Goodbye, as moderator and part of this small team of foreigners we wish you a good life. Not sure where you get the feeling that the Thai Immigration laws are made and adjusted by this team.
It would be a nice thought, we adjusting Thai laws on your wishes and demands. But also we are depending on a Visa to life our lives inside of Thailand.
Michael Cooksey sadly you are sluffing off a gent who is most helpful. BTW...I am gay and a Moderator on this forum.
Like you I am an American. I have lived in Thailand 14+ years and like you, I have a wonderful Thai partner....though you are fortunate to be married and living happily in Virginia USA.
BTW...I would have given you the same answer. Thailand is making progress with gay rights issues, but marriage will likely not be achieved.
If you were seeking long term retirement visa information your only real way is to qualify based on your own merits and financial requirements of the so called retirement visa.
I would suggest you look at the O-A visa available in USA for Thailand. The requirements are easy...but you do have to show health insurance.
