Can I change my Non-Ed visa to a Non-B visa without leaving Thailand?

Hi all,

I would like to ask if it's possible to do a Non-B visa from Non-Ed one without leaving Thailand?

My friend and I went to Chaeng Wattana to seek help but they told us to leave Thailand and come back just as the way how it's supposed to be done even though we did have necessary documents provided by the employer.

I think there should be a way (some ppl do Border-run visa, but it might not be applicable due to this situation?).

Any advices for us please? Or any agency recommended? I would be very grateful.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is inquiring whether it is possible to transition from a Non-Ed visa to a Non-B visa while remaining in Thailand, citing difficulties encountered at Chaeng Wattana. Responses highlight that there might be options due to the current COVID-19 situation, allowing a visa change within the country and suggest seeking assistance from agencies like Thai Visa and Business Support.

okay right now with the covid shit show going on (where people can't leave the country to get visas from thai consulates) you CAN go from an ED visa EXTENSION OF STAY to a covid extension and then to a 90 day Non-Immigrant Type visa inside the country

sorry to warm this up, but is this still the procedure? im on ed visa at a phuket private language school since may, now got a good job offer for the "possibly starting but not 100% sure" season in tourism, after documents checked by HR visa staff i got asked if i could go back to home country to do non b there - but the whole process is just insane with flying half the globe, quarantines, 5-6 weeks waiting time for embassy appointment, vaccination not accredited in home country, coming back to sandbox with all the papers, bookings, tests - all for a different visa sticker!? maybe you have some advice...

and rather than make your own new post you resurrected a THIRTY TWO week old one ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I suspect you're not still on the original 90 days you get from the ED visa and if you looked at your stamp it probably says "extension of stay permitted until" ๐Ÿ˜‰

Be that as it may, to go from an ED extension to a Non-B inside the country is totally between you, the school, your new employer and the immigration office.

You would take documentation from the school saying you are stopping studying on xxx date, go to the immigration office cancel your current ed extension, apply immediately for a 60 day covid extension and then apply for an in country 90 day Non-B visa IF your new employer can meet the documentation requirements for getting it issued.

GO with someone from your new employer to your immigration office and see if they will let you go from the ED extension to an in country Non-B. If they say no, your only option is to leave and get it in another country then come back.

This is how it's done (Richard &

)

You get documentation from your schools stating you stop studying on xxx date, you go to the immigration office where you got your ED visa extension and cancel it with that letter. THEN as soon as it's cancelled you apply for a 60 day "covid" extension. Once you get that you get documentation from your employer and go to Chaengwattana section C-1 and apply for an in country 90 day Non-B visa. It will go under consideration for 14 days and then you go back and get the Non-B visa and a new 90 day stamp inked in.

This whole thing hinges on your new employer meeting the requirements to get the Non-B visa issued in country. It is far more stringent of a process than what you used to do going to a thai consulate. SO make sure you get the documentation requirements AND that your employer can meet them BEFORE you cancel your ED extension and go on the covid extension

thank you so much, that's very helpful information. I just hope they take a look at my documents because they simply declined without letting me know what went wrong or how things should be. How much is the charge to do it may I ask?

@Minh ****
ALL extensions inside the country at ALL immigration offices are 1900baht no matter the length of time they're issued for
