Ok. I have heard you don't need insurance for renew extension on my OA Visa. And I now have heard you do need it. Does anyone have a simple answer to this? Or is it still up in the air. I have blue cross in the states which covers me well over here. So is there a yes or no answer yet?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for health insurance when renewing an OA visa in Thailand is currently unclear, with community opinions divided. Most commenters agree that health insurance is necessary, particularly for extensions, but there is uncertainty about whether foreign policies will be accepted. It is advised to stay updated on the situation and consider exploring local insurance options.

You DEFINITELY NEED health coverage but there is some debate on whether you can use a foreign insurance to meet the coverage after your first entry on an O-A.

Let's wait until we hear some more reports about what's really going on.

The rule has been in effect for just over a week, and there's just not enough VERIFIABLE reports.

You definetly need health insurance!

Yes. Wait to see what happens but it wouldn't hurt to explore what the current insurance options are now. If you are on yearly extensions then they are going to probably require a Thai insurance policy. You should look into these now and weigh the implications knowing you have time to wait this out until August next year.

But be careful, go before the last date of your current Admitted until or permitted up to date, to apply for an Extension of Stay. Do not pass this day and get into overstay, because nobody posted their experience.

Asked for insurance, did not have but still welcome in amazing Thailand. Normal we only read denied entry because they stayed in Thailand before.

I'm not freaking out yet. My 8th extension expires August 5th next year. Just all these changes are driving me nuts. I had a friend just flew back from Vietnam on a tourist Visa. They asked if he had insurance. He didn't but they still let him in.

Yes you will need health insurance for the O-A. However...as its so soon since it became effective...lets all wait and see what really develops. Hopefully somehow those who do have policies like yours in home country but covers worldwide will be accepted...more later as it is known.

Best for now...sit back ..relax...do not freak out.
