TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses the updated entry requirements for Phuket as it reopens under the 'Phuket Sandbox' model, effective July 1, 2021. It mentions guidelines from the Tourist Authority of Thailand and poses questions regarding quarantine specifics for travelers, especially those already in Thailand wishing to visit Phuket. The comments delve into concerns about quarantine for existing residents and international arrivals.

Lol give up

International only probably just came back need covid test

What about people already here that want to go to phuket.

Will the quarantine us? Will we travel with new arrivals? Do these requirements apply to only people flying into Phuket from abroad?

- Thanks. I think I will pass on taking a trip any time soon. Thanks for the warning.

if your in Thailand foriegners need a negative covid test within 72 hours before arrival in Phuket. For some reason Thais is 1 week. This is the mentality of people running it

Again, Phuket Sandbox rules only apply to international arrivals to Phuket. Domestic arrivals in Phuket do not have to play by Phuket Sandbox rules. It's really that simple.

only from abroad...

So you have to stay in quarantine, in your hotel for the first 3 days?
George *************
How about just an article on the Phuket sandbox ONLY. Then maybe have an article about the 3 islands. A separate article. You know, so people might not get confused. Really, clarity is a virtue. Sorry, this stuff is not really rocket surgery, but you'd be forgiven for thinking it is because of how convoluted the explanation of the rules is. Make things simple. Make things clear. Don't try to do everything at once. Do one thing at a time well. Then do the next thing well.

seems Thailand desires the higher echelon of the global IQ crowd. If people can't figure it out, they know where they stand

No, that's not the way I read the article. [I really wish the article would have just addressed the Phuket Sandbox and not the 3 islands. starting later.] As I read the article you take a test at the airport and you must remain in your hotel room until a negative test result is received. I can't see that taking 3 days, probably overnight - don't know. Then the article goes on to talk about the 3 islands (so not the Phuket Sandbox) and that's where you can see the 3 days quarantine in your hotel room.

But you might have to pay up front for 14 days just in case you show a positive during your stay. Just thinking I hope the hotels are honest with their tests or you might be stuck there on a false positive.

@Jo**
I haven't seen anything requiring you to pay 13 days upfront. If you test positive you go to the hospital. Last I read you can stay at multiple hotels during your 14 days.

looks that way, but better than the nasty hotel we were locked in for $2400.00 in November for 16 days...

fair points, but it was pretty clear it was a shitshow then. Most people figured it out and didnt bother. But the 'sandbox' will bring more dim lights to the nation

@Ka***
But everything was included in that ASQ price. The sandbox you need to pay for 3 covid tests, food, transportation (I'm sure they have a special taxi you need to take and pay for), ext.

And all it takes is for 1 person from your plane or hotel to test positive and I can see them locking everyone in their hotels.

yep, effectively pulling the whole thing and turning it into ALQ.
