Hi all, I tried searching the group but it didn't work as there were so many posts with the keywords i was looking for but not the answer.

If I am flying from the UK on a multi-entry type o, do I need to show proof of onward travel to the airline? I know that is likely with tourist visa or visa exempt entries. I assume best to have the funds 20k on me as well.

Thanks :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand on a multi-entry Type O visa, you are not required to show proof of onward travel or funds at check-in or upon arrival.

you will not be required to show proof of onward travel when you check in at the airlines nor will you be required to show it or proof of funds when you go to stamp in to thailand.

On a Non-Imm O for a UK pensioner, I flew from LHR on BA last week using the second half of my return ticket originating in BKK and was not asked for confirmation of onward travel nor have I ever been. I always presumed the reason being that the visa is 12 + 3 months and therefore the possible final departure is outside the lead time for purchasing airline tickets. At BKK the IO was a few minutes flicking through my compilation over several years of Non-Imms and Retirement stamps before asking how long I wanted to stay, my response 90 days. No mention of 20K. While standing in the queue I did notice the adjacent IO was processing arrivals at twice the speed.

I must have flown from the LHR well over 20 times now, I have only once 'air france' been asked to show proof of my return flight, I told the check out lady I was not sure if I had to attend a wedding in malaysa therefor I hadnt booked it yet (a lie) and no more questions was asked... never once been asked to show proof of funds, I think thats a new thing though I see the 20k being mentioned alot, I thought that was more a land visa hop requirement now though, cheers

Yes, that's what we would think, but LHR is privately owned so I guess they set their own parameters

I've completed 28 legs in the last 3 years LGW-DBX-BKK in and out with Emirates. I have also booked one-way. It's always interesting to read different circumstances and events though. You would have thought all UK departures would operate under the same policy.

Must be LHR restrictions, Im not the only one, but I know people who have flown from Manchester with no problems. Seems like its hit and miss.

From LHR?

I've never been asked to show anything with my non O ME visa, I use Emirates too.

It might just be LHR, they are very strict on travel requirements

, WOW that's good to know, usually on those year-long multi-entry Non-O visas airlines don't require anything.

Ive flown from LHR with Emirates with the same visa and had to either buy a return ticket or show proof of onward travel within the validity of the visa or they wouldnt let me board. Took me about an hour to sort it out booking onward travel as they wanted to see hard copies of confirmation. LHR is a privately owned airport on high/red security alert and is super hot on correct travel docs

As always a great help. Interesting, I thought funds would be required. That's good to know, I'd rather not carry 20K. Cheers once again Tod Daniels. Much appreciated
