For those who are unvaccinated, do you need to get a covid test 72 hours before departure or 72 hours before arrival in Thailand? My flight time is 24 hours total and I'm not sure what the cut off point is. Also, how long is it taking on average for Thailand Pass to approve applications? Will I have enough time to get the covid test and apply for Thailand Pass before my flight leaves? Lastly, what exactly does Thailand Pass need in regards to the covid test. A photo of the letter certifying a negative test result? Or something else? My flight leaves from the US on June 26th. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers who are unvaccinated must obtain a negative COVID-19 test result 72 hours before their first international flight segment. They cannot apply for the Thailand Pass until they have the test result. Recent comments indicate that the Thailand Pass system may no longer be in effect for arrivals after July, but proof of vaccination or a negative test will still be required. It's important to consider that airlines may have their own requirements regarding boarding based on vaccination status or test results.

If you are randomly challenged on arrival without vaccination or a valid negative test result the way I understand it is you will take an ATK. That is, of course, assuming your airline allows you to fly.

thats also my understanding. Biggest worry would be allowed to board or even test positive on arrival.

So if I was unvaccinated I would be doing the test before departure.

It's 72 hours from your first international segment. So if you have a flight from Atlanta to LAX, then to Japan for example, it would need to be 72 hours from your departure from LAX.

You cannot apply for Thailand Pass until you have your results certificate, and then once you do it's taking an average of 2 hours for the pass to be issued.
