Hi guys, my ex wife and our daughter will spend 1 day in Thailand on July 1(long stopover). Their flight leaves Bussels on June 30 (8pm), but when they arrive in BKK it will be July 1 (2pm). So the big question is: will they require a Thailand Pass or not?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether the user's daughter and ex-wife will need a Thailand Pass for their one-day stopover in Thailand. Many commenters affirm that as of July 1, 2022, a Thailand Pass is no longer required. However, one commenter advises to apply for it to avoid complications, especially since airline staff may still ask for it despite official rule changes. Additionally, the need for a pre-departure test for an unvaccinated child traveling with vaccinated parents is also addressed, with reassurance that under the Thai pass scheme, it is not necessary.

The only question remaining is whether my 9 yo old unvaccinated daughter will need a pre-departure test. Under the Thai pass scheme this wasn't necessary as she's travelling with her vaccinated mother ... I hope this won't change on July 1 ...

So I got a cheap travel insurance from worldtrips.com for a few days and applied for Thai Pass. This was approved after 2 hours (with a validity starting July 1 ) .

Every time Thailand has a rule change, a bunch of people get caught out during the transitional phase. Assuming the expected new rules are gazetted soon, departure airport staff will struggle to comply with a rule relaxation which doesnโ€™t take effect until the next day, resulting in many denied boardings. Avoid the grief, buy some insurance (itโ€™s inexpensive) and apply for a Thailand Pass (which is super quick and easy these days). Good luck.

Check the requirements with airline

Your airline may ask to see TP, to board the flight. How long is the layover and is it all on one ticket? That is, do your bags go straight through to final destination?

if that's the case, I think you'll need a Thai pass. If your bags are not checked through, you will need to go through immigration to pick them up.

All the flights are on 1 ticket (booked on lufthansa.com but quite shockingly they don't know whether the bags will be checked through ... They say airline check in staff on departure day will be able to tell ... ๐Ÿ™„ )

Thailand pass in no more in July 1...

Why does it matter? It asks for 2 things and is approved in 2 hours. Just do it to be safe.

it doesn't need to list covid. They only care about health insurance now.

It will be 1am in Thailand when their flight departs, but it will still be June 30th when they are checking in. I don't think anyone will be able to answer except your airline because normally you need to meet the requirements at the time of checking in for your flight.

Daughter is insured through my travel insurance, don't know about my ex. My insurance policy doesn't mention covid anywhere ('sick is sick') .

@Bert *******
everyone traveling should always have travel insurance. Thailand doesn't require specific Covid insurance. Just use proof of existing insurance.

It matters because buying the whole insurance just to spend 11 hours in the country is a little silly in my opinion ...
