I am back in Thailand on the 28th February. All paper work now completed and two nights stay in Asq hotels . My question is if the new rules start from the 1st March does this mean I won't need the 5th day hotel stay and pcr test.thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The new rules regarding the 5th day hotel stay and PCR test in Thailand will apply to those who submit their Thailand Pass applications on or after March 1st. Since the original poster arrives in Thailand on February 28th and has completed their paperwork, they will not be subject to the new regulations starting March 1st and should not be required to stay an additional night in a hotel or undergo a PCR test. Discussions among commenters indicate some uncertainty until the new rules are officially gazetted.
Gee ******
I was 🤔 this same thing. We should not have to do day 5 PCR and SHA after March 1st regardless of when we apply

Yikes. Not good. Does it state this anywhere?
J ******************
@Gary ********
it works the other way also when they went from one test to 2 tests they honoured those who had the single test bookings

Does that mean I have to reapply for my thailand passport since I got mine this week for April? Can you just apply for a thailand passport again? What if I already have a valid one?
J ******************
@Gary ********
not correct it has always been this way .
Gee ******
@J *****************
Huh? I don't understand what you mean
J ******************
@Gary ********
when they make changes there has always been a start date that has applied from both the date of application and date of arrival. The new rule starts from applications made from 1 March for Thai Pass and for arrival after 1 March .Previous versions have all worked this way both good and not so good .It is Thailand rules not what others expect
Gee ******
@J *****************
So you're saying that even if Day 5 is after March 1st those who registered before March1st will still have to do a SHA hotel and PCR?
J ******************
@Gary ********
absolutely

No
Ginette *****************
Yep
Mark ********
I told You’ll have to do it you numpty
Gino *********
Is this for vaccinated or non-vaccinated? Did the rules change for the 10 quarantine for non-vaccinated?
Michael ********
@Gino ********
vaccinated only cannot see them scrapping the unvaccinated rules

@Michael *******
thanks 🙏

You will have to do the 5th day unless you APPLY after the new start date is approved. The new rules apply if you submit Thai Pass application after the approved start date.This is always the case when rules change.
Will ************
You will have to do day 5 PCR . New rules apply to those that apply on or after March 1st for arrival on or after March 7th. Those already with TPass will more than likely follow old rules

Your 5th Day falls after the 1st March so you shouldn’t have to do the SHA++ overnight stay and pcr. If you’ve booked a free cancellation hotel you should get this (and the test) refunded. We have booked everything through Royal Vacation and they’ve already sent us the refund request form. We arrive in Thailand 31st March, but obviously everything has been booked and paid for a few weeks now.

Different source, different information. I’m simply going with information from a reputable established travel agency based in Thailand rather a rag that’s all 🤷🏻‍♀️

And I asked you to clarify which part you had responded to! My own experience is that of the agency’s response, so maybe it is different going through an agency, and you have more of a benefit in terms of protection.
Brandon ************
@Gillian *****
unless your agency is the Thai government itself, no one knows the actual rules yet until they're made into law.
Gillian ******
@Brandon ***********
well clearly you know they’re not. It doesn’t stop them from being proactive though does it 🙄
Michael ********
@Gillian *****
only those who apply after 1st March his arrival date is before that.
Gillian ******
@Michael *******
arrive or apply? He arrives before, and has applied before. I arrive after, but have applied ( as he has) before. The email I received from RV said that there is no need to re apply for our Thailand pass, and we can get a refund for the day 5. I don’t see how he cannot cancel his day 5 ( if it’s refundable), and his TP was applied for before the change date, as was ours 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Gillian *****
your situation is different. I have been in and out of country since July 2020 did all myself everytime COE ASQ Sandbox. Your using an agent and talking blah
Gillian ******
@Michael *******
ok you know it all don’t you 🙄

which bit? My opinion on the OP question, or the part that applies to me and my situation?
J ******************
@Gillian *****
you have to use old rules unless you make your application after the start date of new rules .Any application currently in system is under the old rules

ORIGINAL POSTER
@J *****************
it's been approved it's not a application
J ******************
@Martin ********
your Thai Pass if approved was originally an application, if you use that to enter Thailand you are governed by the rules as they are today ,including hotel requirements, insurance requirements and so on.The only way you can get in under new rules is to apply and arrive after they start .
Gillian ******
@J *****************
until everything is official, for now I will follow the advice of an approved Thai travel agency based in Thailand. They have sent out a refund form and advised that Thailand pass will be re applied for, but thanks for your input
J ******************
@Gillian *****
if you apply for Thai pass after start date of new rules you will be fine as I said
Gillian ******
@J *****************
and that is exactly what is happening! In the meantime RV are refunding ALL costs already paid for day 5. Therefore we are no longer attending the hotel on day 5, nor doing a pcr test because we are being refunded the cost of these services. New Thai pass plus refund of day 5 costs = no day 5 hotel +PCR. As nothing is official yet, your argument isn’t with me. It is your opinion vs RV
Brandon ************
@Gillian *****
the law isn't even published yet. It's still just a proposal.

@Gillian *****
am not arguing the original person posting was given the wrong response to his question that was what I was replying to.I was in Thailand from early December 2021 till early Jan 2022 ,so have been through the mill BEFORE even the current rules came in .The new ones currently proposed for March 1 are nearly the same
Steve *******
Yep. You wont need 5th day hotel, I think it's just an ATK test from 1st March
Darren *******
@Steve ******
yes he will, the new rules are only for those who apply for the Thai Pass from 1 March.
J ******************
Steve *******
@J *****************
I read it as arrivals after 1st march
Steve *******
@Darren ******
ok, I read it was arrivals after 1st march
Michael ********
Yes you will new rules will only apply to those who apply after 1st March.

But has not been gazetted yet (made legal)
Jo *******
@Michael *******
that's my understanding too

New rules? They did away with the 5th day?
