I have spoken to my thai embassy but I thought I would ask here as well. The covid test 72hrs before you fly, how does that apply if you have a short transit? I am flying Australia to Sydney, short lay over 2 hours then onto bangkok. Does the 72 hours refer to before you board your first flight or the second flight? I am sure my certificate will be within 72hours of my second flight as its quite a short layover but you never know 🤷‍♂️

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 72-hour COVID test requirement for travelers heading to Bangkok applies to the original departure time of your first international flight. Comments indicate that the test must be conducted within 72 hours before the first flight listed on your Certificate of Entry (COE). This includes the time the tests were taken, and it's important to ensure that your certificate aligns with the departure time of your first leg of the journey.

Your first international flight

My certificate taken this week stated the exact time the swabs were taken and that was the effective date. I went in the other direction and the SIA check in counter at Bangkok verified the swab date with the first leg departure time to satisfy the 72 hour requirement.

The results and f2f must be issued in the 72 hours prior to the first flight listed on your COE

I understood it to be before international flight as i have a domestic flight at first too

Does the test need to be carried out within 72 hours or is it 72 hours from receiving the results?
