Saw those lines today, somewhere else, AKA borrowed a few sentences, from the OP's experiences, confirming they are valid here as well, at times, as I is on so-called retirement extensions for a decade, and had several examples, too early too late to extend, let you sit and wait on a chair, even the paperwork is done, and they're all chit-chatting personal unrelated matters, missing unlisted items in the pre-checklist, bedroom pic with wife no acceptable blah blah OKAY - have to add, most at times sailed thru the process super smoothly

One of the most unpleasant parts of the process used to be the vetting of one's paperwork before being granted a queue number for an appointment to see an Immigration Officer. This process used to be conducted by bureaucratic harpies who appeared to be adhering to a dictum of "they shall not pass" whatever the circumstances. Any failure to dot all the i's or cross all the t's brought down withering scorn and instantaneous rejection.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the unpleasant experiences faced by expats in Thailand during the visa extension process, notably the bureaucratic scrutiny of paperwork leading to rejections. The poster shares that while they have had smooth processes at times, there are systemic issues like missing items on checklists and delays caused by immigration officers. Comments reflect a consensus on the growing difficulties and frustration with the visa application process, particularly mentioning the requirements for marriage extensions and other types of visas.

Both the UK and US Embassies no longer provide income affidavits for their citizens. (Source UK and US Embassy websites)

The RTP IO are aware of this.

Other counties may still comply with this request hence it is still being referred to in the documentation presented.

As with all bureaucratic processes in any country it pays to prepare well in advance.

Most stress is self induced through lack of preparation and leaving everything to the last minute.

Smiling, admitting you've made a silly boo boo and the staff are more likely to help than send you away.

I use my UK Form P60 to verify my pension income with my IO.
