Thailand reentry after extension no visa

Hello, I would appreciate some advice regarding my chances of being refused entry to Thailand.

I am a German citizen and have made several entries into Thailand this year:

* 2 months in Thailand → 1 week in Germany

* 2 months in Thailand → 2 weeks in Germany

* 2 months in Thailand → 1-month extension

* Then I travelled to Vietnam, where I stayed for 12 days.

During my stay in Vietnam, I was hospitalized. I am now planning to return to Bangkok for further medical treatment and follow-up care.

I will have documentation from the Vietnamese hospital stating that I require further treatment, and I can also provide proof of my medical situation if needed.

On my last entry into Thailand, immigration barely checked me and allowed me in without any questions.

Given my travel history and the fact that I genuinely need further medical treatment in Bangkok, how likely is it that I could be refused entry this time? Would the medical documentation make a meaningful difference?

Aswell I am ready to take the risk of being deported, is there any other risk of them putting me in jail or smth like that?
Answer summary
A German citizen shares concerns about potential entry denial to Thailand, following multiple long stays and extensions within a year. After receiving medical treatment in Vietnam, the individual seeks advice if this could impact their re-entry, given their travel history. Comments indicate a high likelihood of denial without a proper visa, citing overuse of tourist entries, and stress the importance of obtaining a long-term visa. There are also insights on risks associated with being denied entry, including potential detention at the airport until a return flight is booked.

Just go to Malaysia. Medical care there is great. If you want to be an international tourist, go on an international tour and collect some different stamps in your passport. If you want to make Thailand your home, you will need an appropriate residence visa.

Honestly this is lottery. It's also about about mood of the officer and how you look. I'd say 60-70% that you might get denied but this is not guaranteed.

So where are you now? Four days ago you said you were applying for a DTV. Where did you apply and why aren't you waiting for the outcome?

That history is indicating residence in Thailand. If you need treatment then geet a medical visa. Or consider KL. Wonderful healthcare

No jail time. Refusal of entry is a real issue as the medical issue really means nothing

Just go home. get your health sorted out, apply for the correct visa and return to Thailand without shitting yourself... being denied entry, will drastically reduce your chances of ever returning to the life you have been living .. good luck

So what about the 180 day rule for tax in this country seeing you have made 3 trips and guessing spent money

my thoughts are a little different than others. Yes they could deny you but you have done nothing wrong. You left for periods of more than week. And up to now they have not given you a warning. I have friends who have 6-8 visa exempt entries this year- no problems. They could give you a warning “don’t come back unless you have a visa” I am not saying you are risk but I don’t think being denied is at all certain.

Jo Clemente just curious - those friends with 6 - 8 visa exempt entries, do they hold passports from ASEAN countries?

Fei-wei Chen 1 is and 2 are not. but they leave every time for 7-10 days and stay for less 30 days.

Darren Grist They actually asked you for flight out? That is immensely helpful as almost everyone thinks they don’t care

Fei-wei Chen ASEAN or not is largely irrelevant, it's the number of days per visit and the accumulated total. I've entered Thailand roughly 7 times this year, all visa exempt. In total I've probably spent less than 30 days in country. The only questions I've ever been asked is once to show my flight out of Thailand and also to confirm that I live and work in Vietnam.

Jo Clemente Thanks.

Interesting data points for how to not trigger any flags.

Just transit in Bangkok, better fly back to Germany, where you will receive proper medical care. With this history of 60+60+60 days within the first 9 months of the year, you risk being denied entry, and, as Brandon explained, you will be locked up your phone and passport taken away. etc. You should fly back to Germany straight way from Vietnam

Highly likely they will refuse you entry without a proper visa. Given your recent history.

If you need medical trearment I highly recommend Kualar Lumpar!

Just as well qualified, also generally cheaper!

Health insurance there is also way cheaper than in Thailand.

First of all, the medical treatment thing means nothing. That has nothing to do with Thailand. If it did, you could get a medical visa, but it sounds like that's not your plan.

I'd say you should be 100% prepared to be denied entry if you try to enter Thailand with that history. Even with a tourist visa I wouldn't like your chances. We're not even 9 months into the year and you've spent 7 of those months in Thailand.

If you are denied entry, you will be taken to a holding room at the airport and you will not be allowed to leave until you book a flight out. They will tell you if you have to go back to Vietnam, or if you have to go back to Germany. You don't get to decide, they'll tell you.

If you want be sure you get into Thailand, you need an actual long-term visa.

OP
how can they decide if I go go vietnam or germany? I can book a ticket for germany then not a problem
Bob **********
Bob **********
Markus Höcherl most deniers get sent back to where they came from so book a flight to Germany from where you are now and don’t even try either that history you’d probably be denied if you got an evisa
Brandon ************
Brandon ************
@Markus ********
Because they will confiscate your passport, and will not let you out of the holding room until you book a ticket to where they tell you to. Then they will escort you to your flight and give your passport to the flight crew. You will not get your passport back until you arrive at the destination.

meaningless for entry, but it could help you get a visa on medical grounds before travelling to Thailand.

That doesn't mean anything, because you're not traveling with a medical visa. You are traveling as a tourist.
