Need Advice/Recs! Urgent

Currently in Thailand on a visa exemption extension that expires this weekend, and my Bangkok lease ends the same day. so I need to decide fast. I am a US passport holder.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to continue my life in Thailand, either in Bangkok or possibly Koh Samui.

Right now I’m choosing between a DTV, tourist visa, or ED visa. Although the DTV and tourist seem like my best option currently.

I have enough funds for the DTV, but the upfront costs and potential agency fees would stretch me pretty thin. I am on fixed income as medically retired US military (I am in my early 30’s).

For anyone who’s done this recently, which nearby country did you apply from, how long did it take, and what was the least stressful option overall? Also open to recommendations for Muay Thai schools or agencies for DTV.

For the individuals who recommend applying myself, I’m okay with doing so but if the price is right I do not mind paying for the service.

Appreciate any advice. Just trying to make the right long-term call without rushing into an expensive mistake.

Thank you! 🙏
Answer summary
A US passport holder currently on a visa exemption extension in Thailand is seeking urgent advice on the best visa options to extend their stay, considering their lease and visa expiration. Options discussed include the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), tourist visa, and education visa (ED visa). The individual has sufficient funds for a DTV but is wary of agency fees. Commenters provide varying suggestions, stressing the need to leave Thailand before the visa expires to avoid penalties and recommending applying from neighboring countries like Malaysia or Laos, or using agencies like Flexspace by Monarch Services.

If you're medically retired perhaps you have some medical issues that you can use for medical soft power DTV. You need a treatment plan from the clinic or hospital with appointments over a long time. I don't know if there is a minimum, but if you have an appointment every 3 months over a 1 year period you should be fine. I had an appointment every 6 months over a 2 year period and was approved. I did it myself, it's pretty straight forward, no need to pay an agency ridiculous fees.

I've given you the best advice in the other post you did. You are last minute so just get out and back in a day later with an agent (fast track). It will give you more time to figure out things.

Issa Compass seem to have the lowest agency fees and a money back guarantee. Ask them which Embassy they reccomend in your situation. Vietnam may be difficult as USA passport holders need a visa and you do not have much time.

Advise to leave Thailand by the weekend , you are on overstay after that and if you get caught it’s a 5 year ban

You don’t need an agency for one for DTV. It’s the best option.
