Hello👋🏻 , m planning my first ever trip to thailand where i would preferably stay for a year at least as a remote worker ( I don’t make 2700$/month for a DTV ) , should i just go visa free for 90 days then leave and get a 90 visa for a total of 6 months ? Is there any better options ? I heard people take muai thai classes for a full year visa. Any help would be much appreciated 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning a year-long trip to Thailand as a remote worker but does not meet the income requirement for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). They are considering starting with a visa-free entry for 90 days, followed by obtaining a METV for 6 months. Advice shared in the comments suggests entering as a tourist to explore different locations before committing, noting there is no monthly income requirement for the DTV, only a 500K THB bank balance. The user expresses concern about the 500K requirement and considers starting with a visa-free entry.

I recommend just entering as a tourist to see how you may enjoy it.

Explore different cities and see which place suit you.

The biggest nomad hubs is Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Phangan. (No idea about Phuket but if you're a crypto bro you might like it)

Bangkok is great for meet ups and meeting people, Chiang mai is great for spending time in nature, and Koh Phangan is great if you're into raves and music festivals.

There is no minimum income requirement for the DTV, you do not need 2700 a month. You need 500K THB in a personal bank account. You can get a METV which is a 6 month visa but you can stay around 9 months if you time your extensions correctly.

the 500k in itself is a problem tbh, i dont wanna stay here and save for so long so i’ll just go visa free first and see how things roll out. Appreciate the info tho! The more u know the better <3

Anonymous participant Ok, 500k is a must. Get the METV, give you 9 months or maybe borrow the 500k.
