TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers from the UK inquiring about baggage options to Thailand generally note that several airlines, including Thai Airways and Qatar Airways, provide favorable baggage allowances, with some offering up to 35kg. Comments suggest that purchasing excess baggage in advance tends to be cheaper compared to additional fees at the airport. For those considering extra space, buying a second seat has been mentioned, but it's accompanied by varying opinions regarding its practicality. Premium economy options from airlines like Finnair and KLM also allow for two bags at 23kg each, yet prices and additional fees for domestic flights within Thailand can fluctuate significantly. Overall, it's recommended to compare different airline policies for the best travel experience.
Finnair are good but watch if your using a domestic flight in Thailand. Nok Air very expensive for extra baggage. Cost me 6,000 baht. Thai Smile is best and get a premium ticket. Will leave you with 16kl to pay but you could split bags so you have hand luggage.
option ,pay £1,000 for 2nd seat...whoever made that suggestion doesn't fly much

Pay the excess in advance when you book your ticket, it’s cheaper than at the airport

Buy two seats and get 2 x luggage allowance? Book a window seat with the seat next to you empty. That way no close contact isolation needed from someone next to you testing positive

Debra Jane agreed the extra luggage option would be cheaper. But for those who can afford, they might decide an extra seat is worth getting around having to close contact isolate.

I'm sure there are other ideas as well. If the two seats can be done, it also solves the issue of close contact isolation .
