TLDR : Answer Summary
This post inquires about the costs associated with obtaining a retirement visa, opening a bank account, and acquiring both car and motorcycle licenses in Udon Thani, Thailand. Community responses suggest that hiring an agent may cost between 45,000 to 50,000 baht for a retirement visa and related services. Recommendations include using local agents, such as the Thai Visa Centre, for ease of process, but some users suggest that applying for a Non-O visa from one's home country can save both time and money. Regarding driver's licenses, several commenters advocate for handling that process independently rather than through an agent.

If you have the 800k then I'd just get a 1 year non Imm OA in my own country then come here, easily open a bank account since it's a long-term Visa, then move my money over here and finally let that visa expire and get a non-o and then extension.

well this would need a little bit more explanation for all the newbies here 😂 It sounds easy for those who know, but sounds like a riddle for most newbies

Don't use an agent for the driver's license go and do it yourself is my recommendation. it's easy and not worth the hassle of an agent doing it for you in my opinion. what is the hassle you ask? well if you're going to be living here you may as well do it as legally as possible. as far as an agent it will depend on the time of day and the year and what the weather is like... as it varies. Best to ask the agent.

Some ppl have done all that without spending a dime but it's up to individuals.....be very careful when engaging agents.... someone got scammed and luckily got back her money after making police reports

If you can apply for a Non-O Visa in your home country via the Thai Embassy website when you are ready to come over

It will save you money & time

You can still use an agent to fulfill the 12 month extension but you will have an advantage with a Non-O from home

We would never accept a case that requires such a long timeframe. Please be cautious of agents who take on jobs they cannot finish, as this can result in their clients falling into overstay. If possible make sure to ask them for immigration receipts to ensure that their visa is actually in process.

With us, the entire process takes about one week. This covers everything, including opening a bank account on a tourist or exempt visa, Non-O visa, and yearly extension.

We usually give a longer general timeframe to be on the safe side, but right now on average it takes about 1–2 weeks.

If you have upcoming travel plans or an urgent situation, we can prioritize your case as needed.

I didn’t think they were issuing bank accounts on just an exemption? Has that changed now?
