TLDR : Answer Summary
Foreigners can enter Thailand visa-free, but this depends on nationality. If entering visa-exempt, it is possible to apply for a Non-O visa within Thailand, provided they have a valid immigration stamp remaining (21 days for most cases, but 15 days for specific offices). Some immigration offices may allow it, and documentation requirements include having a Thai bank account or proof of income. It is best to check with the specific immigration office regarding their policies.

In general you can ONLY get a visa outside the countra you apply for. Even the so-called Thai retirement visa is only an extension (!) of an existing visa. As are additional days on other visas.

not actually correct. You are correct that *most* visas are obtained from embassies or consulates overseas. Visas generally give you permission to enter the country. However you can obtain some visas in country. The most common one would be a Non O visa. This can be for a number of reason, like marriage, Thai family, and being over 50. There is no such thing as a retirement visa but it is commonly referred to as such, even on some immigration stamps. There are three visa types that are referred to as such, but none require you to be retired. You only have to be over 50. You cannot work on any of those visas in Thailand.

Sir ,

I have other questions.

Showing about income 800,000 baht, if my husband has money in a Thai account, can I ask for a bank guarantee at the bank and show it

or must I attach my statement for visa application?

Thank you

not quite sure what you mean. At the time of applying for an extension you’d need a letter from the bank, 12 months bank statements and a copy of your bank book, updated that day.

[edit] If applying for the initial Non O visa they’d just need the letter from the bank and and copies of the bank book to show that funds have been transferred from overseas.

. Yes can be done, but alas not every imm. office does this as
@Stu***
says. So you have to ask 'your' imm. office if they do. Then you have to ask for the handout when you can do it over there. Most important what I understand is that you have a Thai bank account. Sometimes you can do it with an income statement from y'r embassy, but many times you need to transfer 800k฿ (or 400k฿ when based on marriage) as international transfer on that bank account in your name only. But you have to ask. For Germans visa exempt is 30 days (From 1st of october 45 days) indeed. Which you can extend for 30 days should you need more time.

. No. In this case (incountry non imm O) it's one or the other. But let him ask in his imm. office because you'll never know. Maybe one alternative also to consider is a trip to e.g. Laos (Venetiane or Savanakhet) and BUY a non imm o over there at the Thai embassy.

; Not for the "incountry" Non imm O alas. It has to be transfered from abroad. Later the 800k฿ must be in his bank account 2 months before he asks a year extension. Then he must use the already transfered money in his Thai bank account. Should he already has that money in the Thai bank, which is a decent amount for most people, he CAN consider to send it back to his home bank account and send it back to his Thai bank again. But most probably this will cost some money due to bank costs and maybe exchange rate difference. I THINK if he has transfered it in parts before, that he can use the multiple parts also if it's together 800k฿.

But also don't forget the possibility of having an income statement from the German Embassy. If its more then 65k฿ per month.

Thank you so much.

Other questions

Can he show 800 k from

Thai bank ? Just asked the bank for bank guarantees ?

Depends on your nationality for a visa exempt entry, but if so it’s entirely doable in country. You’ll need 21 days left on a valid stamp to convert (15 for some offices).
