thank you for this group and all the helpful information 😀
we applied in Hanoi on the 8th 8 AM of october
same day they requested more documents: stamp on the passport for being outside of thailand, for the 500k baht we used his dad as sponsor( since we travel alot and we recently purchased a house in another country we did not have it in our checking accounts for the past 3 months and we decided last minute on staying in thailand. they asked for his dad’s bank statement which we got the stamped 3 months of his balance from the bank). and they requested documents showing the relationship with his dad which we provided birth certificate. the status changed to pending approval on the 9th and we just received the approval.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post shares a successful personal experience regarding the DTV visa application process for a husband in Thailand. It details that the application was submitted in Hanoi with additional documentation requested, including proof of funds and relationship with the financial sponsor (his father). After providing the necessary documents, the application status changed to pending approval and was ultimately approved. The post highlights the importance of printing the DTV visa email for travel preparations and poses questions from the community regarding the relationship dynamics and concerns about the legitimacy of using a sponsor for the financial proof required.
Don’t believe this post - DTV VISA you must have proof of 500k baht in bank.
Cannot believe any embassy would except a sponsor as proof of funds bull 💩 😀 - every man and his dog would be applying for a five year visa with no income if their own.
Sponsor letter normally refers to dependant’s who are family members of somebody already got a DTV. You can’t expect a child to have a bank with 500 K. That’s why it states that the DVT holder needs to be responsible paying their living costs.
If you husband got a DTV without money in bank - but with a sponsorship letter stating a relative will foot the bills - then that’s different matter.
If that was the case think embassy didn’t interpret the rules correctly and you got lucky.
the post didnt say no income! my husband makes 100k a year. we did not have the money on our checking account! so we used his dad as sponsor only for the 500k baht! only family members can! i did anonymously because i saw everyone is doing it lol i thought maybe its the safest to do but i will be happy to share info
Anonymous participant thank you 👍 Are you now going to apply for dependent DTV visas for family members of your husband? Or do you already have a DTV Visa?
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
