TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're looking to extend your 60-day visa in Thailand for the first time, here are some helpful tips from the community: 1. Prepare the necessary documents: Bring your passport, a completed TM7 form, a TM30 form (proof of accommodation), a passport-sized photo, and 1,900 THB in cash. 2. Arrive early: Long queues can make the process lengthy, especially at busy immigration offices like Chaeng Wattana. 3. Dress appropriately: Avoid casual attire such as flip-flops or tank tops when visiting government offices. 4. Consider using a visa agent: They can simplify the process and reduce stress, particularly for first-timers. 5. Be patient and calm: The immigration process can be slow, so bring a book or your phone to pass the time. 6. Know your visa status: Understand whether you are on a 60-day tourist visa or a visa exemption, as this affects where you need to go for your extension.

When you go to immigration at Chang Wattana you can take the BTS to the Punk Line(I think) that will take you to government complex at Chang Wattana. There is a free bus that will take you straight there if you can find the bus stop. That is an area of Bangkok where they let architects run wild, so the buildings there are all interesting. Dress appropriately for visiting a government office, they frown on the typical tourist outfit. If you have them, wear long pants, shoes, and a button down shirt. Linen is crucial in the heat! Make sure you have extra passport pictures and get there as early as you can in the morning, and get a que number as quickly as you can after filling out the paperwork and attaching your picture to the form. Once you have a que number locate the part of the office you’re going to be waiting in, observe how many people are there in relation to your number, and if you are 20-40 numbers back, go downstairs and get a smoothie or cup of coffee, you’ll have a long wait. Bring a book if you have one to read, or a battery for your phone. The entire office closes for lunch and kicks everyone out. So depending on when you get there and the timing of the year it can take the better part of the day.

Jonathan Seraphim if they have a Free Visa Exempt Stamp ( ผ.60–ม.17 ), then they do NOT go to Chaeng Wattana, but they need to go to IT Square Lak Si for a Tourist Extension of Stay

if a foreigner is staying in the Bangkok Metropolis area and wishes to Extend their Stay for an additional 30 Days by getting a Tourist Extension of Stay with Bangkok Immigration ( ตม.1 ), then, specific to Bangkok, it is a very legitimate and pertinent question to ask:

When they made Entry into Thailand, whether they got a Free Visa Exempt Stamp ( ผ.60–ม.17 ), or, they actually Paid and Bought a Single Entry Tourist E–Visa (SETV) for GBP £40 Quid, USD $40 US Dollars, AUD $60 Australian Dollars, CAD $65 Canadian Dollars, etc. from a Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate and had their Thai E–Visa PDF Printout on hand during Entry to get a Tourist E–Visa (SETV) Entry Stamp ( TR–60 )

Specific for Bangkok Immigration ( ตม.1 ), there are 2 separate LOCATIONS!

if Free Visa Exempt Stamp ( ผ.60–ม.17 ), then one would go to IT Square Lak Si

if Paid £40 quid Tourist E–Visa, SETV ( TR–60 ), then one would go to Chaeng Wattana

Save time, money, hassle, and overall frustration, because they are at 2 Different Locations, that's why pendantic questions are asked for specific details to get specific answers (as much as reasonably possible)

If you're going to do border run just remember to stay 24 hours before you return to get another 60 days. I did that without any problems end of February..don't worry

You can get a further 30 days , is that what you mean?

If so you’ll need to go to your closest immigration office , down load a tm7 form fill it out before hand, or get there, take your passport , your tm30 (proof of accommodation) 1 passport photo, 1900 Thai baht in cash.

Get there early, as sometimes can take a couple of hours!

Are you referring that you are on a visa exempt ? No such visa as a 60 day entry visa
Like

Simon *******
I would like to clear up some confusion, there is a 60 day tourist visa that needs to be applied for before you enter Thailand, then there is a 60 day exemption stamp that is given on arrival without a visa this is NOT a visa on arrival or any other type of visa, it is simply a stamp saying you are exempt from needing a visa for 60 days.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

John Feeney Indeed, David Allen rightfully pointed out that there is nothing such as a "60 day entry visa".

It is either

*** a 60 days tourist visa

*** or it is a 15 days visa-on-arrival (15-days on entry)

***or it is a 60 days stay permit stamped upon a visa-exempt entry

If you always react in such an unfriendly manner when somebody in a visa-advice group points toward a wrong wording, I think this group is definitely not for you

John Feeney how do you know? Can you read his mind? Your guess is as good as mine. I agree with Dave Allen. I have been following Facebook pages like this for over 2 years. People ask half-questions many times. And we have to guess what they mean...

Correct answers are in the details of the question.
