TLDR : Answer Summary
Officially, there is no specific age limit for obtaining an education visa (ED visa) to study at a private school in Thailand. However, unofficially, some areas may not issue the necessary paperwork for applicants over 50 years old. To apply for an ED visa, one must be over 12 and under 99 years of age, and the educational institution must be approved by the Ministry of Education.

That is a private school and it is their policy along with the Ministry of Education that issues paperwork for them.
You should have asked them to provide the law there state a age limit so you have it black on white

Okay, OFFICIALLY there is no real age limit to getting an ED visa for studying at a private school BUT unofficially the Ministry of Education in some areas will NOT issue paperwork for people over 50 so they can get ED visas.
That's just some marginal info ripped from a schools' website which might be accurate or might NOT.
I'm leaning to NOT accurate because I know kids just starting school who have ED visas and they're WAY younger than 12.

CMU is a university that's the difference from. Example a Language School.
And you mention you know there is a limit but it's something you heard from and person but you are not sure please how can that be more correct information. That makes no sense saying like that
I know there is a limit. It is not because you have not heard about it that it is not the case. I’m looking for proper info and not just hear/ say or guesses.
Many just chose to change to a non o/a visa when they become 50 because that is the minimum age for what many would call a retirement visa after it's more easy even they still like to maybe study Thai.
If there was a max limited be sure all schools would ah e itt mention in their websites.
So no source other then haven't heard about and the logic part whee schools would mention it hope that make sense to you
