TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has arrived in Bangkok with a 15-day visa on arrival and is seeking a way to extend their stay for three months. However, comments clarify that the visa on arrival cannot be extended beyond a possible 7-day extension which is effectively a denial of further stay. To remain in Thailand longer, the user must leave the country and apply for a Thai Tourist Visa at a consulate in a neighboring country, allowing for a 60-day duration that may include potential extensions.

Any planning ahead of time involved?

get the Thai Visa in your home country before you fly to Thailand.

There isn’t a workaround. If you didn’t buy a visa before travelling then you pay for a visa on arrival for 15 days. That visa isn’t extendable - other than the fact that you could apply for an extension but it would be denied giving you 7 days to leave.

Not all immigration offices will entertain this. And some will not add on the days to your existing stamp but date it from the day you apply.

There is no extension for your visa on arrival. If you apply for and pay for an extention you will be denyed and given a stamp with gives you 7 gays to leave the Kingdom.

This is the guide to doing a VISA RUN...

As an example...

These are the requirements for the Thai Tourist Visa at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane Laos

NOTE that you MUST meet each of the requirements to get the Thai Tourist Visa. No exceptions.

There is no work around, you have to leave the country and either repeat the visa on arrival again or if you are able to apply for the tourist visa that will give you 60 days at an embassy or consulate in a neighbouring country

Unfortunately that you want to be here for 3+ months doesn't mean you CAN and in fact on the stamp you're on now there is no extension you can get in country other than that 7 day "extension not approved" stamp that gives you a week to leave thailand

Sadly you should have bought a tourist visa from the thai consulate before you came here 😕

So what that means is if you want to stay longer you have no choice but to go to a thai consulate in another country and get a tourist visa. There is no "way to work around this" in country

That will stamp you in for 60 days when you come back and you can extend that one time for 30 days for 1900baht at the immigration office

SO pick a nearby thai consulate,

go to their website

look at the requirements for a tourist visa

see if you need to book an appt or it's walk in,

see what their processing time is

go there,

apply for the visa

wait the processing time,

get your passport back and come back to thailand to get stamped in for 60 days 🙂
