Hi. I've searched through the posts, but can't find a clear answer. I'm going to apply for the DTV visa as a remote worker. I have an address in the States, but I'm currently in Zanzibar. Do I state my current location as Zanzibar or as in the States, as that is my residence? I plan on flying into Thailand from Zanzibar, if that makes a difference. But I do have a layover in another country, so they won't see that I came from Zanzibar.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the appropriate location to state on their DTV visa application, given their current presence in Zanzibar and their residence in the U.S. Comments suggest that one should apply from the country they are physically located in, which in this case is Zanzibar, and also note that there is no Thai embassy in Tanzania. Instead, they should apply via the e-visa website and consult the Thai embassy in Kenya for any specific requirements.

There is no Thai embassy in Tanzania. You need to apply through e-visa website and your application will be sent to Thai embassy in Kenya. Before e-visa I know in Kenya they won’t accept non EA nationals if they don’t have resident permit. Now you better send them email and ask, before make 350$ payment. Because if application canceled there is no refund. I know all this because I thought to apply from Zanzibar as well some time ago.

If you are physically in zanzibar you use the appropriate thai consulate for zanzibar.

You are supposed to be in the country where the embassy you are applying from when you apply. If you are applying to a USA Embassy or Consulate yiu are meant to be on the USA when you apply. It is possible they ask for proof.
