So here you go James miller. You ask to post separately so I am. Arrived through air, wife owns the house with proper house book, she’s dual citizenship, I’m American so visa exempt stamped in for 30 days, when we arrived by flight BKK we passed through Thai side immigration together, and I always ask about the tm30 registration. And also asked in Thai language so I’m certain immigration understands the question. I also asked local immigration about the tm 30 and they both said it’s not required if I flew in to Thailand and was told if I arrived by a boarder crossing it was required. I would like to either go for 30 day extension or just cross over to Laos and stay one night and get re stamped in for an additional 30 days. On previous trips, many many trips I had a non oa visa and never did a tm30 registration because I left at the 89-90 day mark. Surely if it was required it would have been addressed at arrival or departure at the airport. I just can’t imagine I was lucky all those times. Curious what your thoughts are.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) details their experience arriving in Thailand as a visa-exempt traveler, where local immigration indicated that TM30 registration is not required for them upon arrival. The OP, whose wife is a dual citizen and property owner, expresses confusion about the necessity of this registration after consistently receiving mixed messages regarding its requirements, particularly since they've previously held a Non-O visa and never completed a TM30. The community responds by clarifying the difference between TM30 and TM6 forms, indicating that while TM30 filing is technically needed for longer stays, many do not encounter issues if they leave within 30 days. They suggest filing the TM30 online if necessary and that local immigration practices may vary.
