So here you go James miller. You ask to post separately so I am. Arrived through air, wife owns the house with proper house book, she’s dual citizenship, I’m American so visa exempt stamped in for 30 days, when we arrived by flight BKK we passed through Thai side immigration together, and I always ask about the tm30 registration. And also asked in Thai language so I’m certain immigration understands the question. I also asked local immigration about the tm 30 and they both said it’s not required if I flew in to Thailand and was told if I arrived by a boarder crossing it was required. I would like to either go for 30 day extension or just cross over to Laos and stay one night and get re stamped in for an additional 30 days. On previous trips, many many trips I had a non oa visa and never did a tm30 registration because I left at the 89-90 day mark. Surely if it was required it would have been addressed at arrival or departure at the airport. I just can’t imagine I was lucky all those times. Curious what your thoughts are.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) details their experience arriving in Thailand as a visa-exempt traveler, where local immigration indicated that TM30 registration is not required for them upon arrival. The OP, whose wife is a dual citizen and property owner, expresses confusion about the necessity of this registration after consistently receiving mixed messages regarding its requirements, particularly since they've previously held a Non-O visa and never completed a TM30. The community responds by clarifying the difference between TM30 and TM6 forms, indicating that while TM30 filing is technically needed for longer stays, many do not encounter issues if they leave within 30 days. They suggest filing the TM30 online if necessary and that local immigration practices may vary.

I believe that the OP has the answers needed for his question about the TM30 filing requirements.

We wish him success in use of the online TM30 address registration.

Thanks all for your helpful replies 😊

As soon as I read your post I realised you're confusing TM6 and TM30 as indicated by
@James *******
Legally, a TM30 must be filed by the owner or landlord when an "alien" is staying at their property. Most tourists who are out within 30 days will not need a TM30 (By law it's still a requirement but simply won't be needed). TM30s are requested by most immigration offices when you go to do other business there. Immigration at airports never bother about TM30s. If your wife is your "landlord" simply get her to register the online service. It's very easy after that.

I agree with your reply... thanks 👍

Contact your local Thai Immigration office and ask for their requirements for the TM30 address registration.

The TM30 can in most cases be filed on-line using TM30 online registration.

The fact that you have not done it, and never had an issue has nothing to do with the fact that Jomtien Immigration is requiring it to do any type of extension of stay or any other business at their office.

I believe that i did reply to your question on another post even though it was a hijack.

Also I believe that there's confusion on what is required...

The TM 6 arrival card which was Always filled out on arrival into Thailand when you passed thru Thai Immigration is being confused with the TM30 address registration form.

The TM6 Arrival card for those who fly into Thailand has been temporarily discontinued by Thai Immigration.

However the TM6 Arrival card is STILL being issued by those who enter Thailand by land border crossing entries or by sea.

As it is well know, some Immigration Offices are more lenient than the other. In your case it seems you always travel into Thailand and stay at the same address, house in your wife's name.

Immigration has that address on file and informs you that you do not need to visit them each and every travel to do this report again.

Be thankful OR if you really wish to follow the letter of the law, go to the website, make an account and make a report within 24 hours after coming home.
