TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the controversial promise made by the governor of Rayong to offer 100,000 baht to tourists who contract COVID-19 while visiting the province. While some commenters see this as a desperate measure, others point out the importance of keeping foreigners in Thailand to support the economy during a time of low international tourism. The discussion includes various perspectives on government strategies, economic impacts, and the realities of health insurance and quarantine practices for foreigners in Thailand.

The Thai government have teamed up with Agoda to give a 40% discount on accommodation at hotels as well as discounting meals to help boost their tourist industry.

Japan is offering to pay

the price of the holiday I read,

If you weigh up everything

To come and stay at a quarantine holiday costs minimum of 35,000,

You get 10 tourists = 350,000 just on hotels, 1 tourist gets covid -100,000tb is not so bad.

Plus all the spending they will do, ...

If this attracts and brings in thousands, from low risk countries and they are quarantined, and tested etc it could actually be a good idea 🤷‍♀️

They should use the same testing kits they use for testing in arrival at Suwannabhumi.

Maybe find more.

He doesn't think it's going to happen. If it doesn't happen, he won't have to pay anything, right? But it will maybe quell people's fears and promote tourism in Rayong, which is the whole point. Domestic tourism is important here, and it's the only tourism there is going to be for the foreseeable future.

This is slightly a bit different but there are supposed to be

0 foreigners in Thailand now as long as these people have not been out of the country they are not a risk

My question is this why would you want to force them to go home no tourists are coming into Thailand at all but the ones who are here are still spending money keeping the shops and everything open they do not get one single bht from the country and pay for there own health or cover so they are costing nothing to this country but are helping to keep business open so if you send most of these people home you are also sending the money they spend out of the country as well

So what will happen to the small business who need there custom

I think I would rather keep them here at least till tourists can come back with no quarantine who can a Have o e month of from work for a holiday but only see two weeks on the beach the orther two spent confined

i agree, though not sure the 300-400k still here are carrying that much, certainly not enough to cover the 1.9 trillion baht shortfall left by no international tourism. It’s tough, even for me. I’ve retired and could endure here a long time, but not everyone is in that boat.

@David ********
nobody is being sent home. Get the right visa and there is not an issue. Hardly rocket science.

I wish I could get a job here as I like to work but can’t speak the language

I help out the military with problem hope something might come from it but herd nothing back did the drawings etc but my friend said they will just copy it and use you he was right I worked for the military back he on different projects
David ********
@David ********
Actually, not all foreigners pay everything out of their own pocket. I receive my monthly salary and Thai social security pays for all my health costs.

@David ********
. Nobody is being sent home. They just want everybody to start buying visas and extensions again. Somebody got out his pocket calculator and multiplied 400,000 by 1900. And then multiplied by three months freeby. Now stop being a stingy mongrel and help out the government, they need to pay the PM's salary 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Bobby *******
I do t mind to that I have just done it but can’t do it again I need the boarders open all I am saying if it was me I would want them to stay till the tourists can come back without the quarantine and enjoy there holiday it’s like let the money go out the country when they need it so much just my thinking that’s all
Austin *******
Because they didn't do their job and quarantine those Egyptians that brought C19

Not only in Thailand...some country promise to pay everything if a tourist get infect..while on visit in this country.!

sounds like BS. You fall sick, return a positive test - and how are you going to prove you didn't have it when you arrived? Don't fall for it

Mogens Nygaard socialism is an evil word in America, health insurance is from your employer, lose your job, lose your health insurance. The pandemic and job loss. Double Whammy

Mogens Nygaard food bank use and hunger are far from starvation. Otherwise there would be 40 million starving in America

By anyway..is all madness...as the virus cannot be track from where exactly you get infected....this world goes down everyday a little more
