TLDR : Answer Summary
The 45-day visa exemption for entry into Thailand is available both at airports and land border crossings. However, as of March 31, 2022, all visa-exempt entries will be stamped for 45 days, after which it returns to 30 days. It's important to note that entry at land borders is limited to twice per calendar year.
It all depends on how long you stay in the other country. If you are actually being a tourist, and visiting the other country to explore it, no problem, but if you are repeatedly entering and just turning around and re-entering Thailand, you will have real problems from the second time on, with being refused entry usually on the third attempt.
