Hi coming into Thailand next week 27th with baht and NZ cash to meet money requirements. What is the best place to change NZ dollars to Thai baht once in Thailand ? I still get the 60 days on entry because the new 30 days hasn't been processed yet ?
Answer summary
When exchanging New Zealand dollars (NZD) for Thai baht in Thailand, Superrich is often recommended for its favorable rates, especially at the Suvarnabhumi Airport. It's important to ensure your currency notes are in pristine condition, as damaged notes may not be accepted. While rates can vary between different branches of Superrich, the airport branches are typically competitive. For those traveling outside of Bangkok, it's suggested to check local options like TT Exchange in Pattaya. Also, you will still be eligible for the standard 60-day visa on entry as the updated visa regulations will not yet be in effect.

It really depends on where you are, if in Pattaya the the TT currency exchange booths tend to give a good rate but be aware that nowhere will take damaged notes and if the picture on the King/Queen is marked like with a line from a pen then they won't be accepted. Defacing a picture of the monarch is a big no-no in Thailand and doesn't matter if it's not the Thai monarch either.

You will get one of the best exchange rates of the whole of Thailand in the Airport basement "Floor B", at the platform of the "Airport Rail Link" the shuttle train to downtown Bangkok.

In the Superrich headquarter they might offer a rate 0.05 THB better than at their airport booth, however after you have paid the taxi fare to get there, you haven’t won anything

Since almost everybody arrives at the Suvarnabhumi airport, you should take your chance while you are passing through there, and visit the Superrich booth in the basement of the airport

At the railway level at Suvarnabhumi Airport there is a row of Money Changers with very good rates. Superrich and Super Rich. You need to walk down the ramp virtually into the train station

Thank you for all the helpful replies ..👍 Superrich down stairs at the airport or I might exchange it in Khon Kaen ... the longer I hang on to NZ dollars the wife can't spend it 😆 As I thought still 60 days on arrival for a bit longer 🙏🏻 cheers Gary

I use Superrich every time I visit Thailand . My local Bureau de Change is no where near the Excellent rates offered at Superrich . I do bring a few bahts from the UK to cover taxi / Express Way charge . I tease he staff in my local bank about ironing my Notes ( They do have a sense of Humour)

John Wells that’s good advice. I always check my bills and keep them flat in a plastic bag as they are worthless to exchange places if have marks or tears. Never considered Immigration might see the cash as worthless as it can’t be exchanged. Being denied entry over a blemished bill would be a bummer 🫨😬

Brad Bull I got my NZ dollars from the ANZ and told them they needed to be in perfect condition. I had to actually explain why I wanted them and what for and they needed a weeks notice! I got them and checked them all, they seemed perfect but on closer inspection in Pattaya, 4 X 100 dollar notes were refused due to a miniscule fold or tear. Yeah it woukd sure be a bummer to be so near and yet so far. Good advise on keeping them flat in a bag.

Not every branch of superrich gives the same exchange rate ! You can look up at their website.

For NZD there is typically a 0.10 baht difference per NZD between different branches of Superrich.

So it depends on where you are staying and if it is worth the trip for the amount of money you want to change.

If you are staying near to MBK, you can also use Siam exchange, which has rates as good as the best Superrich branch.

And another exchanger in MBK I forgot the name, which has better rates than the Superrich branch of MBK, but equal to the best Superrich branch. (Main one opposite road from Central World)

Gary Esler there is no Superrich money changer in Khon Kaen. They only have booths in Bangok. Take your chance and exchange in the basement of the airport

You will still get the 60 days as any changes won't have come into effect. SuperRich seem to consistently give the best rates
