Hi,

I am leaving Thailand soon and I have about 2000 baht on small coins of 1 and 2 baht. How can I change them? Bank, coin machines, 7/11?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have around 2000 baht in small coins (1 and 2 baht) before leaving Thailand, there are several options for changing them into bills. You can bag the coins in 100 baht plastic bags and take them to a 7-Eleven or a Family Mart, as they often exchange coins for notes. Alternatively, you can exchange them at banks, but make sure to bag them up first. If you prefer not to deal with the hassle of exchanging, you might consider donating them to a local charity, giving them to street people in need, or even using them to buy snacks and souvenirs. Many commenters suggest that giving the money away is a good deed, as it may benefit those who need it more than you do.

give it to a charity and spend the time you would have spent messing around with the coins, doing something that generates you money or adds value to your life in a way that 2,000 baht could not

Separate 100 thb to each plastic bag and then go to 7-11, I've done this several times. If they refuse, just tell that you need to deposit the money into your bank account, the charge will be only 15 thb.

Tip on check out ? We usually hold on to notes but coins dump them .

Frequent flyers every few months so the few thousand gets us from the airport to accommodation on landing .

If you really don’t need it . You’ll find someone on the streets with a cup needy

Do what the few proper commenters suggested - stack them into 10's. Use tape. I exchanged some at a 7eleven before and it was easy. They have a quick way of counting them. Really, it's so much easier if you tape them.

Don't listen to what the rude people commented in here. Most of them won't even give coins to the poor people around. It's your money, you earned it, use it the way you want it and do whatever the hell you want with it. 😉😇 Good luck!

I have the same issue every time I change countries . And I always do the same . Find a group of homeless people and give it to them . They’ll for sure take care of it for you and your good deed for the day is done . Just think, it’s probably been sitting around your home for years being ignored ! How much do you really need it ?😂😂

There's plenty of people on the streets that need it more than you, give it to them.
Janin ******
Give it to a shelter!
Casey ******
@Janin *****
how about you give 2,000 baht to a shelter and answer his legitimate question? If you have no answer, maybe keep your mouth shut.
Casey ******
Good luck with everything ma’am. 👍
Casey ******
Just apologize to him and give him some advice, if you can. If you can’t, delete this and post a new message about your favorite shelter.
Casey ******
There are too many. Any change starts with the first person.

And you are not a victim, the OP is. You’re selfish. You hijacked a post of person in a group seeking legitimate help, and instead of helping him you promoted your own agenda. It’s selfish and I’m not surprised anything I’m doing doesn’t work on you because narcissists never care about the opinions of others only about their own inflated opinion of themselves and their own wants.
Janin ******
@Casey *****
, did you ever look in a mirror? Except from attacking me there is not much of a contribution from yourself, …and no I don’t have to make advertising for a (not mine) shelter! And if someone ask questions what to do with 2000 baht, or how to get it exchange…….options are many…..
Casey ******
Because it’s a common theme for all questions in this group, mine and others.

Someone asks a question, and they have to weed through random people, providing no value or help whatsoever, just to find the help they need.

Start your own post about your favorite shelter, but let this guy get the information he needs without bothering him.
Janin ******
@Casey *****
, I wonder why you don’t answer all the other who give him an answer what has nothing to do with his question …maybe you just search a victim to let your frustrations free…be sure doesn’t work with me…
Janin ******
@Casey *****
,i don’t have to shut up for anyone. Because I give every month the same amount on a shelter in Sam Roi Yot, maybe I can give you the address so you can verify or make a donation yourself. Maybe also you can learn to answer a question without attacking on the person…..
Casey ******
@Janin *****
I don’t have an answer to his question, so I didn’t post. I’m simply fed up with trying to use this group for valid information and assistance only to find self-absorbed people think they’re entitled to word vomit any nonsense they want instead of actually answering the question and providing help.

Make your own post about donating, but if you can’t provide an answer to a question someone asks in what universe do you think they want to hear from you?
Janin ******
@Casey *****
why are you so frustrated about a post that’s even not yours? Get a life, it’s only about 2000 baht……
Steve *******
