Is it still possible to get a triple entry visa and do border runs from Koh Phangan to Malaysia?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, while the term 'triple entry visa' is outdated, what was once offered as such is now referred to as the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV). The METV allows for a 6-month validity period with entries yielding a 60-day stay each time. However, it's important to note that obtaining an METV is typically restricted to those who legally reside in or hold a passport from the country they are applying in, thus making border runs possible every 60 days.
You COULD buy a 6 month METV <Mulit-Entry Tourist Visa from the thai consulate in your country before you wing your way here and then border bounce every 60 days which will give you almost 9 months of stay (in 60 day increments) BUT in S/E Asia there is no consulate that will sell METV's to people who don't legally live in or hold a passport from the country they're applying in.
Thank you, that is very helpful. I am heading back to my home country and will get the visa there.
I'm concerned that once in Thailand doing a border run to Malaysia post covid will be the difficult part. It's more difficult to find bus companies doing that journey now.

They gave it many years ago a new name:
Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, good for 6 months and during these months you can enter any time and get 60 days of stay each entry.
, AFAIK, no Asian country selling METV to a foreigner without legal residency in that country. (Or at least pre-Covid, there were zero countries in this area)
