Just some advice: for anyone wishing to renew a visa and is in Bangkok or chiang Mai and having problems... There is a small town which is also worth a visit for a couple of days 6 hours by train or 45 min flight called Phitsanulok.... I did my renewal spontaneous while I was there and it was super easy and straight forward. They don't get many foreigners even before covid so very friendly service and efficient.... Might be worth looking into and visiting the town... People super friendly and a nice little hidden gem...
Edit: this was a tourist visa 60 days and I was staying at a hotel there for 2 nights.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their positive experience renewing a tourist visa in Phitsanulok, Thailand, highlighting the town's friendly service and ease of the process. They mention staying for two nights during the renewal. Commenters note that renewing a visa may depend on being registered with Thai immigration in that area and mention specific conditions for different visa types.
I had to provide proof of my hotel booking for that night... The hotel registered me but I'd only stayed 1 night out of 2 when I went to immigration so it probably wasn't updated in their system. That makes sense now!
