Hi, I've only done my tourist visa ever at Kuala Lumpur but thinking of doing it at Ho Chi Minh Vietnam, just wondering if this is possible first? And if it's just as easy and the same process as Kuala Lumpur?
Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of renewing a Thai tourist visa in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, comparing it to the process they experienced in Kuala Lumpur. Comments indicate that the visa process in HCMC is relatively easy, with one user mentioning that they received their visa the next day with minimal hassle, requiring just proof of onward travel and accommodation. However, it is also noted that U.S. passport holders may need to apply for an eVisa for Vietnam prior to arrival. Recent experiences suggest that requirements may vary, with some reporting that proof of funds and accommodation were once needed but could now be less strict.
I just did mine (4 months ago) in HCMC. It was super easy. I think just onward travel and accommodation. There was no waiting, done next day. Painless.
Saigon is nice place to visit (though I recommend getting out and see more of Vietnam).
I did the eVisa. I think it was required (I am US passport holder). Careful about this. When getting off the plane and going to the immigration check, you will need to stop at an office to get the actual visa. I didn't realize, and waited in line at the passport control and was turned back to go to the the office.
I don't recall exactly. The eVisa cost $50 (usd) and the stamp cost $20/USD - if I remember correctly.. And the funny thing is - they're particular about the $20 bill being in mint condition.
Both thai consulates in Vietnam were asking for all 3-proof-ofs a while back; proof of 20K baht in a bank account, proof of a hotel booking and proof of onward travel. BUT recent reports are they just want onward travel.
not necessarily, there are a LOT of people that use the thai consulates in Vietnam. Just be ready to meet the requirements and you'll be fine. Even penang wants proof of funds and a hotel booking now for a tourist visa
