Just completed the 30 day extension of my tourist visa in Chiangmai. I was asked for a copy of my TM30 plus there are two new forms to sign, one about the penalties of overstay and the other that it has been explained to you and that you can be turfed for whatever....and my phone number....Went at 8:20 out at 9:30...having been away for two years, I was surprised by the "take a picture of you holding the receipt for the cash and your application picture" and of course I had a big smile representing another happy farang at the one-stop immigration service...actually I did have a smile as the trainees there are so cheerful, I asked her how she could stand working there...alongside the ever-pleasant...you know...

A photo of you literally holding the receipt taken by their webcam at the desk of the officer you submitted the application to?

That's a new one, innit?!?

Yes, I'm aware of the reasons for the penalty advisory forms, I've just never heard of someone literally being photographed holding the 1,900 baht receipt. People are webcam photographed by the officer during the procedure, for sure though.

Cheers 🍺

Yes, this was at the Immigration office near the airport...and as I recall there was a tropical backdrop that you were standing in front of...I swear to God! It made me think this was a TAT setup!

Surely someone else in this group can back me up on this...if not, when I fly in and out in February and get my visa exempt 45 days, I will be returning to CM Immigration for the extension again....

it's for the judge if you break the rules. Proof you knew the rules and signed the documents saying so.

No. Now that more and more is being transferred online they are desperately trying to find more unnecessary things to do make us do to justify their existence.

@Terry *******
literally nothing has been transferred online. The new "online" system still requires you submit everything and go into the office.

I mean generally: Visas r now issued online, 90 day reporting can be done online. More and more will be done online, as with everything. So not so many 'jobs for the boys'.

Where in CM did you go? I went to the Central Festival Mall, was in and out within 20 minutes.

Isn’t that just for 90 day reports?

@John ******
No, can do some extensions there too

nope, i did my 30 day extension there. They had separate desk for the 90 day reporting. I had one person in front of me in the queue.

I did it with 42 days left on my initial stamp. (METV)
