Have proof of funds (and there they ask for 20K BAHT not the equivalent) when you stamp back in and you should be okay.

From Hat Yai get a scooter taxi to bus station then minibus to Padang Besar at Pedang Besar get a scooter taxi to take you through Malaysia border and bavk to Thailand side to get stamped in again. Then same scooter taxi to take you back to the minibus station to take you back to Hat Yai. Once in Hat Yai get a scooter taxi back to train station.

I often use the Ta Ba border in Narathiwat Province. It's always smooth and easy crossing there. I'm on a work visa though.

There are different stories going around about all the borders at the south with Malaysia. At the moment I do not dare to tell which story is correct, some say no problem, others say you have to stay overnight, others say they paid their visa run bus drivers extra for the stamp.

Some companies went on hold of visarun sales to these borders.

Safe bet, try to go out and return same day, be prepared if you have to stay overnight, a small back pack with clean underwear, toothbrush and paste will do, And some money, they like to ask you to show 20.000 Thb in cash

so the safest bet is to get a room across the border and wait the 24h before I re-enter thailand again I guess.

I've done a same day out-in Malaysia. I believe it's only Cambodia that you have to stay 24 hours. But the experts will confirm
