Is it possible to apply for a DTV visa while in Thailand on a tourist visa if I have fixed flight tickets?

Hi.

Please, need your advice ASAP.

We are family of 4 and have tickets for February 8.

1. Is it risky to apply at 1.1, wait for my visa and then the dependants'? Is it enough time?

2. If we apply for dtv visa and won't get it until the flight, can we still come on tourist visa and apply again from Vietnam or similar? The question is - do the process of the dtv stops the opportunity to come as tourists? To apply again from somewhere else?

We can't change our flight, it is fixed and very expensive.

We have all the documents ready. House waiting for us and school as well.

Please help🙏🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A family of four is seeking urgent advice about applying for a Thai DTV visa with a fixed flight on February 8, while considering the risks of applying on January 1 and the timing for dependants' applications. They inquire if they can arrive in Thailand on a tourist visa if the DTV visa is not approved in time, and whether applying for the DTV visa halts their ability to enter Thailand as tourists. Community responses provide insights into embassy processing times, the importance of timely applications, and alternative options.

So my family and I just got here on the 24th . I'm having my baby here in February . After we get her Birth certificate from the embassy . We're going to Cambodia to apply . We have someone helping us with applications .

I didnt want to sign another lease in America and wanted to come before my baby was born . But court custody held us up we were supposed to be here in November but things always happen .

We're from the US so we are able to stay 60 days ... Then the extra 30 in-between those times 60-30 days we're doing the visas.

we can stay for 60 days as well. Maybe it will a better idea to do the process after coming?

Please, if you don't mind to tell: did they ask you for return flight from Thailand when you landed?

Anonymous participant we've purchased them because we saw people mentioning that we needed them so we did and they didn't even ask us at immigration they just asked us how long we were staying and what we were going to do and that was it but I have yeah I have a feeling if we didn't do it that they would have asked so we just did it they were pretty cheap

The embassy quotes 7 working days after the day you pay. It will be closed on 1 January and the primary DTV holder has to get there visa approved before the others can apply. It will be tight but doable if you have all the documents right first time. Consulates tend to reset the clock if they come back asking for further details

Anonymous participant that is interesting. Can you book appointments for payment now? If so, maybe secure a time on 15th to go in and pay for family members. Also,

On 2nd for you.

Anonymous participant - The embassy in Tel Aviv moves to evisa Jan 1st, so there maybe some issues with a new system. 1.1 is a holiday, so it won’t be “received” until Jan 2. It looks like they state 7 business days, not including the received date. So if your documents are all correct, you would get your visa on Jan 13 or 14. Then you want to immediately apply for your family members. If you submit 14th or 15th (and embassy asks for no additional information), they should have theirs around Jan 23rd or 24th. That gives you 10 extra business days.

the only problem is that they ask for making an appointment to pay by cash, so I guess it can take more time...

Anonymous participant - Can you show the page? You sure this isn’t something left over from current system and not the new evisa system?
