I exited Thailand through BKK new automatic doors and I haven’t been given any DEPARTURE STAMPS.

It’s like I never left the country…

While I’m outside…

Normally when you exit they stamp with the departure date so that any future agent reading the passport can see you exited before your visa expire.

Is this normal ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared concerns about not receiving a departure stamp when exiting Thailand through automatic gates, likening it to leaving without an official record. Several commenters clarified that this practice is normal and that exits are now recorded electronically, eliminating the need for physical stamps in the passport. Many noted that several countries have adopted similar systems, and the absence of a stamp does not affect legal status regarding their visa.

People insinuating i’m dumb for asking this question are clearly new in Thailand. 1 year ago they were still applying departure stamps in your passport.

What the fuss? Many countries have done this for a long time. No exit stamps were given when I left the US and UAE.

Other countries never stamp (neither on arrival nor departure) - it’s normal. For example, Indonesia and Singapore

If your on a visa that doesnt have multiple entry or leaving will make it expire they will pull you out and have you talk to an imigration official. You can add a multiple entry and or cancel a visa so that when you return there is not an issue.

OMG don't come back as you will be arrested for a massive overstay. You should not have used the auto gates as they're reserved for people that don't ask stupid questions. Seriously, what did you think happened. They have these auto gates all over the world

The automatic gate wouldn’t have let you exit if you had overstayed your visa. Your exit has been recorded electronically and your passport now has one less stamp filling up its pages.

AuthenticFox8040 pretty sure no one has ever been asked for their passport in the street in Bangkok unless they are breaking the law, and even then…

AuthenticFox8040 On your return to Thailand you’ll get a new entry stamp with a “valid until” stamp. That’s the only date any person will be interested in.

They’ve upgraded. No exit stamp is now needed and your exit will be recorded electronically so the next immigration person will see it
