Is it difficult to apply for a DTV visa at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur?
Answer summary
Applying for a DTV visa at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur can be challenging, especially for Indian passport holders. While some users suggest it is straightforward if all requirements are met, others warn of the difficulty and the need for extensive documentation, particularly for those applying under the Workation category. The embassy staff may be strict about financial requirements, including maintaining a bank balance of 500,000 Thai baht, and may request personal tax documents. It is advisable to explore other diplomatic locations if possible.

if you are Indian, applying for DTV from India is definitely harder. But KL still, it’s not the easiest Thai Embassy, and you will need a lot of extra documents.
Especially if you try to apply under Workation — many Indians choose this route, but the problem is that a lot of them don’t pay taxes properly either in their home country or in the country they work for. Because of this, the process becomes almost impossible sometimes.
The Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia now almost always asks for personal tax documents for Workation — it’s basically mandatory nowadays.
Another option is to combine Soft Power with your remote work. This can help you get around tax-related issues, but still, be ready — the KL Thai Embassy may request many additional documents depending on your case.
I understand you want KL because it's easier to come from India or from Thailand, but look for some other options as well.
Anonymous participant 237 nope im retired but I read from many people. Best visit do as it says on eVisa website.. this visa won't get you a thai bank account though and they are more thorough than other embassies
2 weeks ago you did not meet the financial requirement.
So the answer is:
NO, it is very easy to apply using what ever Embassy, all Thai Embassies around the world use the same one and only application website.
BUT I guess you want to know if the Embassy staff would say, you ae such a nice person so we not care that you can not meet the requirements and issue you a visa.
I would say, do not try out, unless you are more than willing to loose your money.
