do you all use an agent or apply yourself

husband and i will be applying for DTV remote working Visa from the UK ...

just wondered if its easier to use an agent than to do it all yourself :)

Thanks in advance
Summary so far
The original post asks whether it is easier to use an agent or apply on their own for the DTV remote working Visa from the UK. The numerous comments mainly discuss related topics, including experiences with financial services and the challenges of international money transfers, but do not directly address the question about using an agent for visa applications.

Chase Bank, Fidelity and Schwab all do wire transfers online. I've found Chase the easiest. Once I set it up for an international transfer to my Kasikorn bank account it was VERY easy to do any future transfers right from my phone...

You should change your residence address to Europe. Everyone was informed 3 month ago

Recent law changes have effected Wise and similar platforms. Especially those from the US. If you had a fully verified account before then no issue but otherwise have an issue. Have to read the email notices you get. Not WISE's fault likely. They have to comply.

Yeah why is this a bit dodgy just before the war I sent a large amount of money from my Russian bank account to my wife's account and when I got to Canada I sent it from Wise account to a regular Canadian bank account that's when the alarm bells went off and they shut my account down of course it was no hanky panky it was all legitimate money that I made in Russia I had the documentation but they still weren't satisfied and close my account down which is unfortunate because I liked wise that's the one aspect of life which a big boys want to control is banking

Wise get registered in Thailand, so you can only have a local thai account with wise. That is okay when transferring a small pension - its auto converted to baht. But if you have a UK account with money in the interest bearing pots, When they find out you are a tax resident they will close the account - transfer all to a wise local account. Then you get no interest, which is why I am looking for an alternative as well.

ps. I am trying to minimize accessing my account, trying not to withdraw, use my wife's account sparingly until I find an alternative

USD Salary goes into my WISE USD, then I transfer my chosen amount to my UK REVOLUT account, then transfer from REVOLUT to my Thai account. I do it regularly and bizarrely its cheaper via REVOLUT than it is sending the payments direct from the WISE to Thai..
Geert ********

CreativeLobster8886 its because Revolut is a Bank and is directly connected to Swift, wise is not a bank. It s only an electronic money institution , its main method is peer to peer transfers, and if wise customers want swift transfers, wise will use corresponding swift partners which increase costs

Geert ********

Adam Randall once wise sees regular withdrawals and logins from Thailand, i guess they're going to guess that you're a Thai resident and then the excessive regulations imposed by BOT on Wise will apply, and even your overseas wise accounts become restricted, -- you've lost your freedom to convert non-thai currencies, so its best to restrict your wise transfers to Thailand to only a few per year, otherwise you're going to be a "slave" to the bank of thailand who has now imposed restrictions on your overseas wise accounts, -- an excellent setup
Nongnuch ********

Adam Randall not really. Your old WISE debit card has now become useless for withdrawals at a Thai ATM. Wise will however mail you a new card

I had my Wise account locked after using it without incident for over 7 years.

Wise started using A.I. Bots 🤖 algorithm to scan transactions.

I contacted customer service agent and was informed that my account would be reactivated when I supplied copy of my passport ( already on file )

6mths worth of bank statements,

Driver’s licence ( already on file )

Letter from my conveyancer about sale and disbursement of funds from my house.

I asked for how long and where all this information was stored and was directed to the Wise website about the conditions when I applied to use Wise.

Basically in a nutshell ( for me, the amount of personal data they wished to harvest from me; I was concerned that Identity Theft was likely in the event of their servers being hacked )

I now use Tap Tap Send to move my money from my home country to my Thai bank accounts.
James *******
James *******
The_Noticer88 yes I use Tap Tap aswell, wize blocked a transaction once and it took me ages to get it up and running again.
The_No*******
The_No*******
James Empey I managed to withdraw down the $25,000 I had frozen ( no ability to transfer it back to my home country bank account -without submitting to Wise’s request for documents ) so each month I would use my card at a Krungsri Bank ATM and withdraw 30,000 baht transactions till I reached Wise’s withdrawal limit, which in my circumstances was 150,000 baht ( each month until I had 250 baht left -with fees it is not worth it to grab that last amount )

I am impressed with how fast the money I send with “Tap Tap Send” hits my Thai bank account. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 they maintain their current operating system.
The_No*******
The_No*******
James Empey I had some transactions with Wise take up to 4 days, for now TTS seems to be working well.

There is also another back up that I have and that is OFX, check them out as well.

Their fee structure is over $10,000 you get no fee and better exchange rate.

Barney Ontour WISE does fully and transparently show you how much money will be received. There are two quotes in the menu: one is the exchange rate they grant you, and the other number is the amount that will be received with fees already deducted. You should properly clean your eyeglasses and check it, again.

Chris Blunt ive just had another look, initially it says 3600 b is £79.41, then a couple of pages in theyve added another 2 quid to it. I dont remember the opening quote being that far under, and of course i know that the nearly 83 quid quoted later on is correct, but the initial price should say all fees cos it says incl fees. Its a great tool to have and i dont think they need to smooze us at any time. This ambivelance does them a diservice
